Not drank?” “Thallium doesn’t dissolve in water.” He looked thoughtful. “We pumped their stomachs. Both had eaten a small amount of flour and sugar recently.”

We couldn't just leave two very dead werewolves lying around in our suite or run off to Alpha Leon crying for help when it was very obvious humans had killed them. It took us a few hours to do the dirty work as the last of the remains went down the drain. Rowan found some bleach under the sink, thank God. So as he went to clean his room and the kitchen area of the blood, I still sat here in the bathroom, on the edge of the tub, wearing rubber dishwashing gloves, pouring bleach into the tub and down the drain. I could feel the hairs on my neck stand on end. I quickly waved it off. “Could be. Apartments like this always have dead rats. Maybe it’s from the blind woman next door.” He stared at me for a long moment before slowly turning away. “Alright.” He turned around to leave, and I secretly let out a sigh of relief, until he spoke again.

“Absolutely!” Patrick sounded more confident than he actually was. He didn’t know the exact reaction a dog would have eating rat poison, but he figured anything that would kill a human would surely kill a dog. And rat poison would kill a human . . . wouldn’t it? Three boxes full would have to, he thought. Of course, he had no idea how long these boxes had been down here or if rat poison lost its potency after a while. A lot of unknowns in this plan, but it was unquestionably better than trying to beat the Doberman to death with a stick.
