His cloak fell back into place and Shaun barely saw the captain's emblem on his chest. "I am Captain Aaron, how dare you grab me?" He pulled his hand back and swung his arm back to backhand Shaun. His hand only hit the air as Shaun leaned back, avoiding it. Immediately, the sound of chairs and tables being moved was heard as people cleared space around them. Shaun and the captain started to circle each other; the captain was clearly enraged, but Shaun remained calm. When the door was behind him, Shaun stopped circling wanting to drag this encounter outside to avoid damaging the tavern property.

The tall one had blonde hair, brown eyes, a bag over his shoulders and daring look while the other had blue hair with blue eyes, his face was cute, like a fallen angel. “That’s Emory and Marsh, Emory is the captain of the hockey team” Xyla whispered in my eyes, it felt like talking about them openly would inquire consequences. I looked over at them, their seat were aligned. Emory sat behind Marsh. A part of the hockey team, I thought about it, seeing them made me excited, I couldn’t wait to apply for the hockey team. “Marsh is the right defenseman” Adele added. I nodded, then she leaned closer.

Seawater had become Calamity Water. Only a very small number of people awakened special abilities and became favored by what was left of humanity. I looked at him and gave a noncommittal nod. "You can make things in the sea listen to you?" Captain White guessed, glancing at the jellyfish I had caught. "Only small, harmless things." I was not stupid enough to reveal everything. I kept my real cards hidden. Captain White stroked his beard and thought for a moment. "There's an old leaking barge being towed behind the fleet. We were going to tear it apart for firewood."

Alessia said, her voice dropping flat and cold. It snapped me out of my spiraling thoughts. I had completely forgotten she was still in my place, and my brain scrambled trying to figure out how to get her out without causing a scene. "Nico," she pressed, a sharp edge entering her words when I stayed silent. "Mmh?" I grumbled, following her gaze toward the TV. I sat up fast the second I registered the screen. It was the captain of 'The Serpent'—a total legend, my absolute idol, and the star of the pro team that invited us overseas to train with them at their camp.

I managed to stammer, avoiding eye contact with the captain. The captain was tall and muscular, with piercing blue eyes and dark, wavy hair. He looked like he could have been a model, and I felt even more self-conscious in his presence. He was wearing a letterman jacket, and I could see the letter "B" on the front, standing for our school's mascot, the Bears. I wondered if he was aware of the rivalry between him and the soccer captain. I had a feeling this was going to get very complicated, very fast.

"You want the other part." "Yes." "I have never moved that fast in my life," he repeated, quieter now, each word deliberate, stripping away every ounce of his usual arrogant captain swagger.
