Cereal Aisle Novels & Stories

RIVER. The third stop was the supermarket. The endless aisles felt like a maze designed to frustrate the shit out of me. I wasn’t used to doing groceries. We roamed around the huge supermarket but we couldn’t find the aisle with baby products in it. At some point, we’ve come to the women’s section where we found some sanitary napkins. This was more frustrating than I thought. “I think we’re lost,” Wesley said while looking around the nearby aisles with canned goods.

Madre yelled. I shake it off. "Can I have cereal now?" Carlos looked at Madre who then looked at me. I knew they wanted to talk more, but I just wasn't feeling the conversation. " Okay, well....I'm going to go get some cereal...I think I want some Lucky Charms, or maybe some Fruity pebbles, or maybe Captain Crunch....maybe all three." I say as I leave the room. I was sitting in the dining room eating my cereal when Carlos came in with his own bowl of cereal. He sat down across from me. "One more question..."

She didn’t care if he's wealthy or not, this man needs to have cereal. Anna came into contact with oats, wheats and packets of other nutritious cereals. After shoving those out of the way, the real cereals were found in the back, behind the healthy ones. Talk about temptation, huh? 'Cinnamon Toast Crunch' was the first thing that she had pulled out. Anna smiled and nodded, knowing that this food would send her into a tailspin. It was delicious. It was, in fact, her favorite cereal. She got out the bowls and spoons and grabbed the milk.

Claire I pulled out every box of cereal that we had in the cupboard, including dad's boring wheat biscuits, arranging them on the kitchen bench to give Andy choices of what to have for breakfast. "Alright, we have Special K, which is mum's favourite, Weed-Bix, that's dad's and these fruit ring things, that are just pure sugar and have no actual substance at all," I tell Andy as Heath comes storming into the kitchen like a tornado. The woman greeted me again before moving away with her son on cue who waved at both of us smiling so much yelling bye. "That boy is cute," I commented. "Yeah... Everyone always wanted to hold him. Myself included." She said. "The supermarket! Let's go." She said again pulling me along as I followed suit. We soon reached the supermarket and we entered after being checked. "What should we cook?" Isabelle asked. "Noodles. Time has gone anyways." I replied shrugging. "To the junk food aisle then." She said tugging at my arm. Come here and have breakfast,” Alice said to him when she came out of the kitchen with a pot of cereal in her hand. “Well, we have cereal with red dates and pies for breakfast today.” Zayden nodded slightly and turned around with a faint smile on his face.

~*~*~*~ The grocery store is busier than I expected, especially because it's still early. The first thing that greets us is the cry of someone’s toddler having a dramatic breakdown in the cereal aisle. The air smells like fresh bread and citrus cleaner. “Mm. Everything here, the air especially smells refreshingly sweet.” I mumble internally. We fall into an easy rhythm immediately. Nora tosses unnecessary snacks into the cart while I remove half of them when she’s not looking. She complains loudly every time.

At the supermarket Melissa and Astra slowly strut through the aisles, between the rows of shelves containing colorful snacks, biscuits, cookies and the like on one hand and those containing predominantly vegetables. As they walk through the aisles, pushing a mostly empty trolley along, they seem to be engaged in a conversation. Melissa keeps beaming a rather annoying smile as she blabbers on. Melissa's POV~
