Professor Dearest
Charlie utters more of a statement than a fact.
“That relationship is one of friendships, Charlie. We are just friends,” I say forcefully.
Charlie’s eyes are the brightest blues, and she stares at me, as if that would change the thoughts I had just said. Nothing more than friends.
“I’m going to get more cookies,” she says, standing.
“We shouldn’t eat any, our tummies will hurt us,” I try to convince her.
“Don’t be a loser, Lettie. It’s just a couple of cookies more,” she explains turning to leave.
