SYDNEY As I entered the dimly lit laboratory, a knot formed in the pit of my stomach. The sharp scent of chemicals invaded my nostrils, and the cold, sterile air sent a chill down my spine. Sebastian, with his unkempt hair and intense gaze, stood at the center of the room, surrounded by his team of researchers. They clustered around a glass enclosure, their eyes fixated on its contents. Anxious anticipation mingled with dread as I approached, my curiosity warring with a growing sense of unease.

Ethan I walked back and forth along the edge of the laboratory, my hands clasped behind my back, observing Dr. Elio as he eagerly mixed chemicals in their respective bottles. The laboratory was crowded with machines and wires, and a strong, awful smell from the chemicals made my stomach churn in discomfort. My gaze scanned the rows of countless steel cages, where wolves, once free and proud, were now confined under their captor's cruel gaze.

It was like it was constantly evolving, which only made our task of finding a cure seem more impossible. After a few moments of studying the rat, it continued to lay in its spot. Blood from the dead rat spilled over until the alive rat was lying in it. Instead of getting up and moving, it just calmly started licking at the blood on its paws. The sight sickened me worse than I thought it would have. Getting up, I went to retrieve a syringe and something to pin the rat down with. Once it was pinned and secured, it didn’t seem bothered by it, just continued to lay there, and lick its paws.

Leon, who had been quiet, was already suited up in gloves, getting down to the nitty-gritty of dissecting the mice. The others pitched in to help. He laughed at the irony: rats scared of him. But Kyle was faster than they. He zoomed in, using his instincts, on the Queen rat, and darted at her, grabbing her hard on the neck, reaching up, and injecting her. The rat hissed, trying to bite him, but Kyle chucked it far from him. He then reached out and grabbed another rat, and another, and another. In a dizzying array of speed, he managed to prick at least a hundred rats before they could flee from his super-fast reflexes.
