Betrothed (Book #6 in the Vampire Journals)

Betrothed (Book #6 in the Vampire Journals)

He laughed at the irony: rats scared of him. But Kyle was faster than they. He zoomed in, using his instincts, on the Queen rat, and darted at her, grabbing her hard on the neck, reaching up, and injecting her. The rat hissed, trying to bite him, but Kyle chucked it far from him. He then reached out and grabbed another rat, and another, and another. In a dizzying array of speed, he managed to prick at least a hundred rats before they could flee from his super-fast reflexes.

The Dark Alpha's Pet

The Dark Alpha's Pet

“True, but like chickenpox, we would give a watered-down version to werewolves at strategic points in their lives. 1 year, 5 years, 13 years, when they shift at 18, and so on. The body will naturally build up a tolerance.” “Have you tested this theory on anyone yet?” Hunter asks. “My alpha wouldn’t let me test it on any warriors, but my lab partner and I did perform a couple of experiments on some lab rats on a smaller scale.” I say shyly. “And how did that go?” Hunter asks. I sigh. “Due to the molecular structure of the rats being different than werewolves, it didn’t affect them like it should have. Rats aren’t wolves. So, we had some anomalies in our numbers.”

This book should be made into a full on series, a regular book - it’s SO good! I obvs have some editorial comments, but overall it’s a solid world building, great original characters (though all could use a bit more mix of good/bad qualities for a more natural feel). The plot is so good! Recommend!

The Unspoken Accord

The Unspoken Accord

It led not up, but down, deep into the building’s bowels. The lower level was a revelation. It was the building’s skeleton, damp concrete, snaking pipes, the groan of distant machinery, but it had been modified. New conduits ran along the ceiling. Small cameras, their red LEDs like watching insect eyes, tracked their progress from corners. As they moved down a narrow corridor, a calm, digital voice issued from a hidden speaker. “Variable pair demonstrates cohesive movement. Stress response elevated. Proceed to evaluation chamber one.” They were rats in a maze, and the scientist was narrating their run.

Chase

Chase

I wanted to know if any of the feral wolves had escaped. I crept out from under the shrub and trotted past it. A flash of dashing brown and tan fur from the corner of my eye stopped me dead in my tracks. I swung my head in the direction I'd seen the creature chasing me, but I couldn't see it any longer. My heart began to beat faster; that color was similar to a cougar. I'm one dead meat.

said Emily who was standing at the door of her daughter's room. Felicia immediately left. Her stomach is easy to feel hungry lately. Perhaps because she was recovering from her illness and the food in the hospital was mostly not what she wanted. So she only ate a little there. She herself doubts if she still insists on doing research in this condition, she will just be troublesome later. "Yes, Mom." .......... After weighing the rats one by one and putting them in the cage, Jayden marked the cages. There are four cages containing five mice each. Previously the rats were marked with a stripe symbol on their tail. Namely one line for number one and then the number of lines depending on the num

Moon's Embraced

Moon's Embraced

They scurried towards him, their whiskers twitching with anticipation, and the foul stench of their presence invaded his heightened senses. Rats darted around him, their tiny claws scratching against the stone floors. Their hunger was palpable, their sharp teeth gleaming as they lunged towards him. Asher, now free from his shackles, fought them off as best he could, his sharp fangs snapping at the relentless vermin.

You've Got the Wrong Woman, Mr. Lance

You've Got the Wrong Woman, Mr. Lance

"If you don't feed them soon, they're going to die!" It was only then that Jennifer remembered that it had been two days since she last fed her lab rats. This was a long experiment. If her lab rats died, she would have to start all over again. However, Laura had just warned her not to leave the house. Even worse, the laboratory was at Haven University. Jennifer softened her voice. "Can you help me feed them, please?" she pleaded. "Their food is in the drawer of my table." Quincy snorted and rejected her immediately. "Are you kidding? You're asking me for help? I'm already doing you a favor by reminding you of them. They're your lab rats. I couldn't care less if they died. Your thesis, your p

The way this book is going, I don't think it will end Maxwell and Jennifer being together, which will make the story be out of line and less interesting, because now Jennifer is planning to go abroad with another man without considering the children's feelings. I'm not interested in this book again

Laura’s story should have been a separate book. Maybe it would have had an ending instead of just stopping abruptly. We won’t get the chance to know if she finally found the courage to leave Simon after his years of humiliation or if he stood up to his mother and dumped Hailey completely.

 Becoming The Alpha's Lover

Becoming The Alpha's Lover

JMM Creationlily's promise
I liked that Nancy had carefully differentiated the two, so at least I could know where the fault was coming from. I went to one of the lab subjects we have in the hospital, which so happened to be in the storage room but behind a door. I opened the door and brought out a cage containing a rat. We have plenty of them for newbie doctors who want to do experiments first before jumping right into surgery. “Are you going to just pop the pill into its mouth like that?” Nancy asked, worried. “It’s risky if you pop a pill into a lab rat just like that,” the doctor warned.

The rogue heir’s redemption

The rogue heir’s redemption

I've tried all sorts of creams and herbs, but it just isn't working. After mixing the whole thing, I watch the whole thing come to a perfect blend. I grab my two test rats from their cages. "I'm so sorry, guys, but I really need your help," I smile apologetically. Hesitated before placing the poisoned cheese in the cage. What if they actually die before I could give them the cure but I brush the though away and get it to them anyway I watch as they rushed to take bites of it. It took less than three seconds for them to collapse.

Sold to Lycan King for Surrogacy

Sold to Lycan King for Surrogacy

As I ventured deeper, a low growl echoed through the tunnels, a guttural symphony that hinted at the presence of something far more ominous than the shadows. Suddenly, from the darkness emerged a horde of rats, their eyes glinting with an unsettling intelligence that transcended the natural order. These were no ordinary rodents; their size rivaled that of dogs, and their fur, matted and bristling, added to their grotesque appearance. My gaze locked onto their gnashing teeth, each rodent a harbinger of the unnatural lurking in the subterranean labyrinth. The rats moved with a collective precision, a predatory dance that echoed through the damp tunnels. Their tails whipped the air, leaving a t
