The kind of rage that made me want to burn everything between us to ash. I ran. Branches clawed at my legs as I crashed into the woods, cutting through the darkness like a whisper turned scream. My shirt snagged on a branch—ripped. I didn’t stop. Every scratch, every bruise on my skin felt earned now. I wasn’t running from something anymore. I was running to someone. To my mate. To the man Tristan never could be. I didn’t hear the footsteps behind me at first—too focused on the pain in my chest and the heat in my limbs.

My voice cracked through the night as I ran harder. She didn’t stop. Didn’t look back. The more I chased her, the thicker her scent became until I was drowning in it, every breath both agony and ecstasy. My wolf pushed me harder, faster. “Wait! I’m not going to hurt you!” I shouted again, the words raw, desperate. If she heard me, she didn’t care. Why was she running? Why wasn’t she coming to me? (Chase’s POV) I ran as fast as I could on four paws after the car that was carrying my mate away from me, the echo of her rejection still burning in my veins. It didn’t matter. I needed her back. She was my mate, my goddess given soulmate. The car disappeared around the corner and by the time I had got there; it had disappeared. Everything drained out of me and I collapsed to the floor, whimpering. The despair took over as the hole in my heart widened to swallow me whole.

Alpha Chase ran a hand through his messy brown hair, frown lines marred his handsome face and I felt an urge to smoothen them away with a caress. “Just my horrible fucking luck.” He spat out. Dismay drips into blood at his venomous words. Wary of his reaction, I mumbled. “You’re my mate.” I didn’t know if I was reminding him or myself. Chase swivelled and stalked my way. I stepped back in fear when I met his cold gaze but came to a halt as my back hit the wall. His face was a hairbreadth from mine as he spoke.

I knew anybody would be proud to be my mate and to spray away all the pesticides from coming after me I announced that I have found my mate. I could feel her heartbeat raising, it wasn’t because of happiness or excitement but because of fear. As her gaze met mine, she ran, fast on her 6-inch heels. Ash was disappointed that she wasn’t happy with us and so was I, but I can’t let this go, she is my mate and at any cost, I will bring her back. The chase was fun yesterday, but I wasn’t having any more of it now. I wanted to hold and touch her more than anything, and if somebody stops me, I’m going to fucking kill him.

His words made me scoff and roll my eyes. "Are you saying I am not allowed to back out on my own?" I asked. I had not realized he had gotten up and was now right in front of me. "There is talk that if their pack subdues yours, you would have to go back and marry him." Daemon asked, "His family is adamant that you two are fated mates." "What rubbish," I scoffed. "Of course it is. An Alpha can tell who their fated mate is the moment they set eyes on them. They can't resist the pull," he said, inching closer. My breath hitched in my throat.

This chair is the last place her scent lingers strongly, and if I could I would take it everywhere I go i would. Missing Emery is like an obsession. I don’t just miss her. I crave her. I’ll chase her to the ends of the earth if only to let her know that she was the best thing that ever happened to me. Of course, it’d be annoyingly typical of me. That i’m yet another man who didn’t miss what he had until he lost it. But maybe that’s what I am. A typical man, who misses his mate. ”You haven’t found her have you?”

They once checked me, so I stopped having any bags in the car. I shrugged my shoulder. "Maybe to the east or north. I don't know." "Why don't you stop doing this and start searching for your mate?" "Do you think why I'm doing this?" I chuckled at his question. "I'm traveling not only to get away from my stress. I also hope I can meet my mate somewhere." He was being ridiculous, wasn't he? If I didn't do this, how could I meet my mate in this trash environment? "Well, good luck then. I sincerely hope you'll find your mate and leave this pack."

Heavy Heart (Ignas' POV) I came back to camp as quietly as one could, stepping light without the slightest noise that could make somebody notice. The last thing I needed was that anybody noticed my absence and started asking questions. I had enough attention this night, more than enough confusion. It swirled through my mind, the memory of his piercing gaze, the possessiveness in his tone when he'd called me "mate." I let a wry laugh loose into the still night. How fucking absurd was this? Why, when I'd finally let go of the idea that I'd ever have a mate, did the Moon Goddess decide to give me one now?
