(Sebastian’s POV) The city lights blurred into long, glowing streaks as I sped down the highway, the tires humming against the asphalt in a relentless rhythm. My hands clenched the steering wheel so tightly that my knuckles turned bone white, the leather groaning beneath my grip. The hum of the engine filled the suffocating silence, but inside my head, it was louder, chaotic, stormy, an unforgiving whirlwind of thoughts that refused to quiet. Evelyn and Peter.

The ground was far from level, my footfall sending little bites of dirt flying up in heedless wings. Something was chasing me. I didn’t know what it was, but I felt it. Its heaviness bore down on me, stifling, too heavy. My lungs burned and my muscles screamed, but I kept running. Then, suddenly— A silvery light cleaved the darkness. I skidded to a halt, panting. The light throbbed, became brighter — then it became a shape — A wolf. Not just any wolf. A great, angelic wolf with golden-molten eyes.

The anger I had managed to swallow inside Kade's office betrayed me; my tears kept blurring my vision as I raced with unending speed, heading home for comfort. I matched into the mansion, my feet heavy on the marble floor. The grand lobby seemed to spin around me, the chandelier's sparkle blurring as tears pricked at the corner of my eyes where I found kade's mother, lounging on the couch, her eyes fixed on me with an unnerving intensity. His shift had been so instantaneous and lucid. She hinged her knee closer to his sides, her hair flew with the wind as the big black wolf raced its wings. She knew they were being chased but she saw nothing. Her heels dug into his thick coat of fur, telling herself she needed to know, she cracked her neck over her shoulders. For a moment all she saw was fast trees, then it zapped by her eyes like lightning. They multiplied each time she blinked. Teeth reared sharp to kill, eyes glowing in the wind, a pack of ravenous wildlings tore into the cold earth on a crazed pursuit to devour.

Zilla shouted and then all his armies got the order determined. They started running back to their cars with speed. Although there are still some that were supposed to be eaten by the animals. But the others will assist them and kill that very beast that is after them. Besides, they all ran into their car as they quickly start the car and moves with force. But the wild animals seriously keep chasing them. And the wilds were even moving faster than their car. So it is obvious that the wilds will catch up with their cars very soon. And it also appears that the wilds might even chase them to the city where they will have a lot of people to slaughter.

CHASE ************** Five Years Later **************** “Hey, take it easy!” I growl out as Fallon and Gray’s twins race past me, nearly knocking the tray of burgers out of my hands. “Sorry, Uncle Chase!” their daughter calls over her shoulder, though she doesn’t slow down in her pursuit of her brother as he weaves between the people gathered on the back lawn of the packhouse, darting around them in an effort to escape her. He almost succeeds, too, until Brock and Astrid’s daughter, Sloane, jumps between her parents to block his path, her curly hair bouncing and a mischievous grin stretching her lips.

And they’re heading straight for the village. “Contain your frustration!” Aunty Kerynna roars at Caelora. “Do something!” Nyvrae screams. Our hearts drop. Even Aunty Kerynna looks shaken. We’re utterly, terrifyingly hopeless. “Now!” I scream, the words tearing from my throat. And we run—no wolves, no fangs, just heartbeats and breath—as we chase the chaos breaking loose into our world. In an endless chase after the wild cats—now running with the fury of wolves, teeth flashing, bloodlust sharp—our efforts are futile.
