Bitten
I didn’t see anything.
“I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be seeing,” I told Nunny.
“I thought we were working on patients, dear.” She laughed.
Just then, I saw Jarren standing in the middle of the woods. He was in a low crouch watching the other side of the area. From the trees emerged three other figures. I didn’t know who they were, but from their red eyes and fangs, I knew they were vampires. I held my breath as one of them lunged toward Jarren, then another. They weren’t strong enough; he was holding his own against them, and I relaxed. Until the other one jumped in. I’d been so focused on the other two that I’d forgotten about him.
