I laughed, "What King?" On hearing my voice her eyes raised to mine. "The Lycan king of course." She replied. "I didn't realise that there were two Lycan Kings. Beta Cenat." I smiled. "In case you don't know, this is the supreme ruler of the entire Lycanthropy, Lycan King Adrian Grey." Cenat said. Her eyes went white in fear, "Forgive me your highness." I grabbed her by the shirt, "I don't mind torturing girls, I can take your life now and no one would question me."

I could see the huge proud smile on the Lycan King's face as he informed his sons that I was his reward for being a good king. As the Lycan king told his sons about his latest conquest which involved raiding my village and killing as much people as he could, I felt hate boil inside of me. I felt great boil inside of me to a point that all I wanted to do was to walk towards the Lycan King and stab him on the neck until he kept his mouth shut for good. "I am going to have her in my bed tonight," the Lycan King said with his mind clouded with lust.

The pressure died immediately. Lucas' eyes lifted with surprise. "You are still standing," he said. I forced myself to grin despite the pain threatening to tear my body apart. "Yeah," I rasped. "Looks like your little king trick wasn't all that impressive after all." He fell silent for a moment. His eyes danced with something dangerous. Something calculating and decisive. Then a slow, wicked smile spread across his face. "The Chosen Lycan blood truly runs through her," he announced to the crowd. "With her, we will take this world under our reign once more."

Since I’d already anticipated this, I couldn’t help the knowing smile that claimed my face. “The Lycans deserve to choose a leader of their own, one that would work for their progress and protection, while extending their brotherhood to all of our allies. Centuries of rivalry can be put to rest on this very day, owing to our harmony. The leader that is respected by all shall be the one to rule the Lycan Kingdom.” He said, “Before we disperse, I would also like to formally announce Lucien as the successor of his father, the new king of the Vampires.”

I gulped hard feeling beads of sweat form around my temples, could things possibly get any worse? I nodded, striking out his name just in case before I filled in the other information then I was ready to leave. As I stepped into the main corridor, my heart skipped a beat. A man stood there, tall and broad-shouldered, his expression unreadable as he blocked my path. I froze, fear prickling up my spine. “Kayla?” His voice was deep, almost gentle, but there was no warmth in his eyes. I nodded unsure where the conversation was leading. “The Lycan King has assigned me to take you home.”

But the man pushed me away after his whole body froze. My heart plummeted. The eyes staring down at me weren’t Elias’s warm brown ones. They were blue, cold as ice, and held no recognition or love. My arms dropped to my sides, the elation of moments ago replaced by anguish and dread. Before I could do anything, another man’s firm grip pulled me back. Jasper, finally recovering from his shock, stepped forward with anger and disbelief. “Who do you think you are?” he demanded. “I am the Lycan King,” the blue-eyed man said, his voice dripping with authority and menace. “And you will show respect.”

“We are not saying she is… What we mean is that they are rules to follow when picking your partner, Lycan King. And you have stayed too long without a partner.” Janine cleared her throat, speaking before Alpha Dale had the chance to. “The Lycan King has a partner. A mate, chosen for him by the moon goddess herself. ”The woman’s eyes turned to me, and she spoke through gritted teeth. “The Lycan King’s mate is whom the council chooses for him.
