That was weird because he had a look in his eyes that she didn't understand. Daniel noticed. “You good? Who's that?” He asked as he got in. “Yeah,” she said. “That’s my colleague. Dr. Davy.” He glanced at the gift bag she was holding. “He came bearing gifts, huh?” She laughed. “It’s Christmas.” “Well,” Daniel said, smiling, “now I need to up my game.” “It’s not a competition,” she said. “You think so?” “I know so.” He started the car. “We’re going skating first. The movie is in three hours.”

Damon snarled, gesturing with his good arm to the creeping void in his shoulder, “is not a common cold. We don’t need an ally. We need an expert. Get him.” Ava’s jaw tightened. “It’s not like I have him on speed dial. Summoning a neutral cosmic entity against their will is… complicated. And rude.” She glanced at Damon’s wound again, at the way the black edges seemed to consume the light around them, and her expression hardened. “Fine. As I was looking I found a framed photo of the Avengers with all of the actors autographs. I couldn’t leave without it so I grabbed the item number, along with another one I saw, to give the cashier. After that I made my way over to the clothing racks. I chuckled when I saw Chastity pull out a pair of Iron Man pajama pants, and long sleeved t-shirt.

Of course, Orison has something romantic playing on the screen because it’s freaking Christmas. “Dad, I can’t today,” I tell him, and just then, I come face to face with the television screen, and I freeze, my jaw going slack right as my heart comes to halt and drops to the bottom of my stomach. I can’t be seeing right. “Honey,” Dad calls, but my ears have started ringing with the amount of blood that rushes to the organs. I don’t believe in the holidays, but please Santa, please!
