Never before had I heard of a wolf that could communicate with their pack outside of wolf form, but somehow Rose was capable of it. "You conniving little minx," I growled back. She laughed beside me as we walked down the strip to the next stop. Apparently Lissa and Christian were wanting to build a bear together, whatever that meant. We entered a store that was bright yellow and seemed more suited for young children, not young adults. There were a few people milling about, but not many. Children were with their parents pointing at things enthusiastically. "Liss, do you mind if I look at outfits for your bear while you work on creating him?"

Nicoli went and let go. “Oh?” Ana looked over. She could see the pictures. But the sight didn’t hold as much interest as something else became noticeable. It’s Nicoli. Ana realized the new smell. It must have been because they were so close that she could notice. But it was intense and made her head spin. “The book’s full of them.” So Nicoli went and flipped a page. It revealed a different bear. “This one here’s a sloth bear.” And he pointed to it. “And then this over here is a sun bear. Oh, and this is-”

Beatrice sighs softly as she leads them into the meadow that holds their cottage. "I don't even want—" All three stop in their tracks, a loud growl echoing against the trees. "What was that?" Beatrice gasps staring off into the forest. Conrad tightens his grip on the carcass and glowers around at their landscape. He lifts his nose softly, "It smells like bear. They sound close. Get inside and keep the door closed. We do not know what these bears want." Jasper ushers his mother inside and latches the door behind him. Once he pivots around, he notices that there is a soft scent of honey that sits in the air.

Judy whispered, like she was afraid her joy might scare Malaya away. Malaya's smile was smaller this time—still shy, but real. "Merry Christmas, Grandma Judy." Judy's hand flew to her mouth. Tears spilled without permission. "Merry Christmas, sweetheart," she breathed. "Oh… thank you for calling me." Jerry leaned into view, impatience playful. "And what about me, huh?" Malaya giggled. "Merry Christmas, Pawpaw." Jerry's entire face lit up. "That's my girl!"

What would a Bear be- I turned around swiftly and sure enough, there was a Bear, just in front of Alex, crouching beside him and oggling at his face. What the hell? At first when Alex noticed it, his face contorted in fear, ready to scream bloody murder but the sound died in his voice. All the while, the Bear did nothing but stare at him, before dipping it head lower and nuzzling its big nose on Alex's face. Alex shrank away in fear, but at the Bears second try, he did not recoil, rather embraced it. They both stayed like that for long time, Alex finding peace and solace in the warmth of the Bears thick coat of shiny chocolate brown fur.

The bear, startled by the sound, turned sharply and bolted back to its cubs, gathering them before vanishing into the forest's shadows.

I said, standing up from his lap. "You’ve misunderstood the definition of boundaries," he said, his voice filled with gentle amusement. I folded my arms across my chest, trying to look serious. "Ch-ch... Shh... I’m going to prepare my gift for Liam now and then I’ll sleep after eating my chocolate cookies." He raised his eyebrows in curiosity. "Don’t stand in this position if you want me to take you seriously, Mini bear," he said with a playful smile. "I’m not joking. Good night," I said, beginning to walk backward slowly toward the door.

Sometimes, it would take Akio a good fifteen minutes to find the ornament! Akio shakes his head with a smile and then switches his attention to another ornament, letting his fingertips caress the fine workmanship in the carving. It’s of three bears. A papa bear, a mama bear, and a baby bear. They represent him and his late parents. They’d always used bear-related nicknames with each other, so when Akio first glimpsed the ornament in a Christmas store years ago, he knew he had to have it.
