They had worked their entire lives to make ends meet. They were trying to give Emily and Peter as much money as possible, even when she told them she already had more than enough. "All right," she finally conceded, "but don't expect too much." She tore off the packaging and opened the box. Inside was a large stuffed bear wearing a Santa hat. "Oh my god!" Emily gasped, staring in awe at the bear.

He thanked the man and then walked back over to us, while Damien was pursing his lips as he saw how much bigger of prize that Ty got than him. He stuck his tongue out at Ty playfully and then stood closer to Jamie, while Ty just rolled his eyes and stood next to me. "For you, a panda bear for my Kota-bear" Ty said as he handed to bear to me. I smiled widely and grabbed the bear, clutching it under my arm.

The sight of the teddy bear on my bed warms my heart up and I study it for a bit. It is a pure white teddy with red decorations in some places. It is holding a big heart between his two little paws which says, "I love to cuddle!"

I turn and see my bear flopping down against my back, laying her head on my shoulder. My fox leaped over Ember and into my lap. My small mouse curled up into my hands.

Since we were close to the town market, the Christmas Carol started playing on the loudspeakers, and just hearing the jovial song, I saw him smiling and grooving to the tune of the music. He was alone but held a bright illuminant smile on his pretty face with the soft snowflakes that showered on us from the sky, “Merry Christmas little bean! Hope you’ll get a lot of yummy treats with your Mommy! Let’s go first and I will also buy some for both of you. But I don’t have much money…so I can’t buy you plenty, okay?” I knew he wouldn’t understand animal language, but the mother cat sincerely thanked him for his kindness while purring gently.

The bear’s huge eyes look up at her innocently, the bright yellow heart still tucked between its tiny paws exactly the way she remembers.

For behind the reindeer was a long train of sleds carrying little children dressed in all sorts of colors. One by one, they hopped out onto the snow and headed towards Santa’s lodge.
