I curled up with Chris in his bed as we watched a movie. He’s been worried about me over the past week, which I feel bad about. I hate worrying everyone. Chris surprised me with a home-cooked dinner and a movie; A Journey Back to Christmas, my favorite Christmas movie ever. I sighed as we watched, “What’s wrong?” Chris asked; I shook my head, but Chris was not about to take that for an answer. He paused the movie and straightened up, waiting for me to talk to him.

I stand alone on the icy field, turning back every few minutes to look at the road behind me. When my hands grow numb from the cold, I scroll my social media feed and see a recent post from my younger sister, Giada Soave. Holding gifts in her arms, she sits beneath a luxurious crystal Christmas tree with my parents embracing her from both sides. Ivano stands behind her with his hand resting lightly at her waist and his eyes full of tenderness. The caption reads, "Merry Christmas, I'm grateful to spend the holiday with those who love me most!" The comments section buzzes with blessings, praise, and envious messages.

"Oh, you're on! Come on princess, let's get you home!" He walks over to Nina and scoops her up making her laugh before heading for the door. She's already said her goodbyes to my Mom and Granddad so I leave them to it. Within a few minutes, we have all said goodbye and are in my car heading for home. Today has without a doubt been the best Christmas I have ever had and it hasn't even finished yet. I can't wait to spend the rest of the evening with this lot, especially my little girl.

I say tentatively as if that might entice her to come home with me. Her eyes narrow on me as she smirks in my direction. "I know what you're doing. So, don't think for a minute that you're slick. Even if I agree to come home for Christmas, it doesn't mean things are going to just go back to normal between us. I don't even know what normal is anymore." She sighs.

At the very least, not now. Two days after I was discharged, Aiden finally came home. Chloe was sent to her grandmother's house. I was sitting alone at the dining table, eating a bowl of plain noodles. He walked in, took off his coat, changed his shoes, and glanced at me. His voice was indifferent as he said he was out of town for a conference the past two days. I kept my head down, focusing on my noodles, and didn't bother responding.

Everyone else at the table agreed then laughed. Thankfully the conversation was interrupted by Tammy bringing the drinks. “Here you go. Are you ready to order your meals?” Tammy said as she put our drinks down. Once she was done we ordered our food, and she disappeared again. “When do you three get to come home for Christmas?” Molly asked Chastity, Lexi, and Colby. “We come home the week before, and have to go back on January 2nd.” Lexi answered. “Are you going to see your parents for the holiday, Molly?” Chastity asked.

Christmas is here and it's what it's He can't deny that the Evening is cozy and everywhere was hot and the Christmas Carol could be heard from a distant church. Putting on his radio was a means to distract him but the radio was not far from the celebration as well. Josh turned off his radio and sighed. This one week is going to be one hell of an experience for him. He knows he would not have returned home if not that the old man had summoned him. He hates Christmas so does everyone from his family but this year's Christmas is different and he can swear his grandfather didn't need to invite him home.

Five very long hours later, work is finally done and I make my way to my car and head home. As I come in through the door, I find Dom and Shel in the living room, Connie had been called into work and Jason was in the basement wrapping something special for me for Christmas, according to Dom with a wicked grin.

He said that he will be back a day before Christmas to finish up his work. This year we planned to celebrate Christmas in our home and new year in Alex and Adam's home. The kids would be happy to meet them all and celebrate with us. I know it would be packed in our house, but still, Athena, Liam, Aiden, Rosaline, Emily, and Lucas, and all of them insisted that they want to celebrate it with the kids. My mom was so happy that they all coming to our home to celebrate with us. It was our winter holiday days as we all spent our time with our families and friends. With the cold climate outside we went to the streets just wandering around and purchasing things for Christmas.

North The weeks dragged by, and the one phone call he’d received from his mother had filled him with trepidation. “So you’re not coming home for Christmas?” “Your father and I will both be home for Christmas, along with the D’Arc family,” she said. “He got to you,” North mumbled. “He did,” she said softly. “I’m not sure how much I can say over this line, North, but I’ll figure out another way to contact you.”
