Traded to the tyrant
Beside her sat Commander Robert Marrow, a handsome, sharp-featured wolf with an arrogant sneer, dressed in the dark green dress uniform of the southern fleet.
And standing just behind them, speaking in low, serious tones with two royal generals, was High Admiral Marrow himself. He was a massive, weathered wolf with a beard as white as seafoam, his chest covered in silver battle medals, his eyes scanning the ballroom with the sharp, unyielding vigilance of an old sea captain.
Draven leaned down slightly, his lips brushing my ear as if whispering a lover's secret.
"The board is set, little wolf," he murmured. "There is the admiral, and there is your sister."
