The wolf inside him, usually so calm and stoic, begins to howl with a sudden, frantic need. Alaric follows the scent. He moves like a shadow, silent and invisible. He reaches a clearing near an old, ivy-covered greenhouse. The glass is cracked in places, and the garden around it is a wild, beautiful mess of herbs and flowers. And then, he sees her. She is small compared to a wolf. She wears a pair of faded denim overalls and a t-shirt with a faded sun on it. Her dark hair is piled on top of her head in a messy knot, and there’s a smudge of dirt on her cheek.

The lorth mage asked rhetorically, "What are you good for, you moron?" The cloud dissipated, and Rhaizen Gale emerged. His arms had ripped his shirt sleeves and his legs had pulled his trousers apart.

But, the alchemist at the apothecary is known to carry obscure ingredients from far off lands and never obeyed my orders to stop smuggling in goods during the ongoing wars. His insolence may work in our favor.

His eyes returned to the ailing figure on the bed soon after, not paying Frederick much heed. Frederick's eyes squinted as he assessed the mysterious figure. The man wore the mask of Hidden Cloak, and his number was written boldly upon it. His cloak was also that of the Silver Wolves, causing Frederick to realise that this was the mysterious last member of the Silver Wolves! This was the Alchemist!

It was only one night before that I was thinking of the future, of my dreams and aspirations. I wanted to become a social worker or even a lawyer in hopes of helping others like me who were abandoned by their families. It was my birthday, and at my age, it felt like I had my whole life ahead of me. Granted, I wasn’t so sure that it would be much of a great life, but at least I was certain that I was going to have a life. That following evening, I wasn’t so sure any more. How could I have been when, within the span of twenty four hours, I’d gone from high school senior and certified wallflower to captive of the prince of the largest and most powerful coven of our time?

He collects it with a smirk, walks inside and returns with a bottle. “Take this once you get to that signpost and you will see where to enter.”
