' Jessa groans frustratingly at her failure to forget what she heard back at Edmond's office. She has been recalling it ever since she left the building and now, she is on her bed still thinking about it. She has even tried to sleep but she just can't push the thoughts out her mind. She would have thought a great force is making the memories stuck so deep in her memories like a glue to a paper but hey, Jessa is never a person to believe in such supernatural things so she immediately dismisses it. She has been reading a lot of fantasy books, as well as supernatural books but she thinks they are all a creation of people.

The whole thing was so pathetic that I lost interest pretty quickly and drifted off into the much more entertaining fantasies in my head. In one of them, I grabbed Kriss by that skin-tight dress and threw her straight into the lake. In another, I accidentally stepped on the hem and ripped the whole thing down the side. But my favorite was Kriss getting crushed under that ridiculous tower of champagne glasses. God, that would've been beautiful. I wandered over to the absurd construction and looked it over. All it would take was pulling out one glass from the bottom, and the entire thing would come crashing down. I reached for one of the glasses—and someone immediately caught my hand.

What had been steady turned frantic, the light flaring too bright, too fast. Cracks spiderwebbed across its surface, each one glowing with blinding emerald fire. Gasps rose. The chanting faltered. I chuckled, knowing Raul was probably getting stitches and Zane was most likely ready to rip my head off after only hearing Raul's side of the story, as usual. Even though I'm fearing what waits for me when I get back to the house and see Raul, a bit of relief washed over me, knowing he won't be able to do anything for the next couple of days with Zane here... but that's just gonna make it worse when Zane leaves.
