Creature Cases Books Novels & Stories

Scouring from left to right, reading the titles here and there as I go, I notice he has them split into 2 genres: informational books on several species, and fictional books. I look at the informational books first. He has several different books on all species. Lycans, wolves, bears, felines, small shifter species, witches, vampires, fairies, you name it. Considering I know squat about any other species than wolves and Lycans, this is an absolute treasure trove of information. How did he get all this? I grab the most interesting-looking book on fairies, witches and vampires, and place them on the desk. Those are the species that I am most interested in right now.

Let me know if you need anything.” “Thank you,” Anna said as the woman walked away. Rhea and Anna sat cross-legged on the floor beside the table, surrounded by the stack of heavy books. Their covers were worn, their spines cracked, and the pages yellowed with time. Each had a unique title: 'Tales of the Mystical Creatures', 'Powers', 'Hidden Behind the Voice', and two others with faded letters too difficult to read.

A first edition of Meridian's Bestiary, one of only three known copies, lay in the fireplace, its charred edges still smoking faintly. I crouched beside a toppled shelf, running my thumb over the embossed title of a fallen book: On the Nature of Forgotten Gods. The sheer breadth of knowledge in this room made my chest tighten. Histories of dead civilizations. Treatises on magic even the scholars feared to practice. Accounts of creatures that should have stayed myth. And as I stood in the midst of the wreckage, breathing in the scent of ink and blood and broken things, I understood why someone would take her.

Just banshees, shadow beasts, some hybrid ghouls, and this weird chapter about moon-cursed wolves." I raised an eyebrow. "Sounds delightful."

Maybe it all came from the lingering frustration about every little thing since my little family reunion at school. I tried not to think about it. Or anything else in particular but as you know it’s quite hard to keep your mind blank, so yeah, not much luck. I switched on the lamp beside my bed taking out my Creatures of the Moon book, I was reading something about Wendigos the last time if I could recall well. Vicious creatures, I tell you. These were the true creatures of the night. More deadly than vampires in my opinion. I sighed through the pages buying out time, as the minutes whisked away.

“I don’t know. Daddy says they protect the city, but I don’t see how. They never do anything.” My finger stopped on a worn out book. The faded writing on the spine said Beasts Of The Wild. I pulled it out and flipped it open in the middle. There was a drawing of a yeti-looking creature called a yowg. The description gave details of height, size and hair colour. Dietary information and habitats were also included. I flicked through more pages and found more creatures, some of which I was familiar with. The names, at least. Unfortunately, the book wasn’t organised into alphabetical order, so I had to search a number of pages before I found what I was looking for: Mouse King.

I came across different books about werewolves, witches, Lycans, vampires and even hybrids and many more I had no idea existed like the fairies and fox shapeshifters. Although I wanted to read them all now I knew it wasn't possible so I picked out a book that was titled ‘THE FEUD BETWEEN TWO WORLDS’ this was written in big bold engraved like the font on the hard black cover then there was another title underneath ‘THE WOLVES AND THE VAMPIRES’

" I don't get it, what's special about this library and these books?" " You can find anything you want about werewolves, witches, and vampires. Also, they're written by supernatural creatures. Meaning, every piece of information here is a correct one." " Can I find something about hybrids?" I asked him, and with a wink on his face, he answered. " Who knows? Perhaps, or you might also found something that would lead you a step closer to who you are." As I was about to ask him something else, he spoke perverting me from adding any other world.

The papers were covered in Roxy's neat, yet hurried, scribbles. Each page was dedicated to a specific supernatural species, with titles like "Reaver", "Vampire", "Werewolf", "Cryomancer", and "Witch" heading each section. Beneath these titles, Roxy had jotted down notes, presumably extracted from my book. “This book has a lot of history in it, and a lot of different species' history as well. I didn't want to keep your book forever, so I’m making my own book. My own supernatural compilation.” Her matter-of-fact tone couldn't disguise the pride shining in her eyes, and I could tell she was thrilled with her project.
