Chapter Two: SIGHTING Later that night, Rojean dolled up to go to a place that was both a nightclub and a bar that everyone was talking about. She was old enough, for sure, especially if she was going to get married soon. But she was never the kind of person to go out on the weekends, to a club or even a bar and always preferred the comfort of their apartment which Lucas didn’t mind at all even when he wanted to go out. She was in a cream coloured off shoulder dress which stopped mid-thigh and hugged her curves beautifully.

Their second gift granted them the ability of making anyone submit to them by staring them in the eye and that made it impossible for anyone to look into their deep crystal blue eyes for more than three seconds because it paralyzed them in their fear. The white fur were all white wolves with crystal blue eyes and their wolf size was larger than any normal wolf. What distinguished them from others was their unique mark. It was a white crescent moon found mostly on their chest, wrist or back shoulder, and thus the name The White Crescent Pack. When she tried to create distance between them, he pulled his hand out of her grasp and then picked up the rose that had fallen then he wrapped his other hand around her waist and pulled her even closer, her chest against his stomach, she could feel every slow breath he took, her knees weakened and almost became mush. He handed the bloody rose over to her, she reached for it, subconsciously collecting it from him...feeling the wetness of his blood against her fingers. “Rain...” he said. I was utterly exhausted, yearning for some sleep. Looking out of the skylight, I was met with a vast, colorful sea of roses. The rose garden extended as far as the eye could see, spreading until it reached the horizon. Giselle informed me that Sebastian had employed over a hundred skilled gardeners to cultivate this garden, featuring rose varieties like Juliet roses, Louis XIV roses, Green Lemon roses, Rhodes roses, Pink Countess Eva roses, and many more superior breeds. The tower's top provided the best viewpoint for appreciating the rose garden.

Everyone wished me good luck, and soon enough, I was getting into a truck, and we were heading out. We had a quiet drive to the school which was at the heart of UPC since Philly wasn't much of a talker. Although he answered every single question I had to ask. We pulled over in front of the huge building which had CRESCENT CLAW HIGH SCHOOL boldly written. There was a symbol of a crescent-shaped moon and a wolf's claw in the centre, visualizing the name. I got off, waved Philly bye and stood staring at the entrance as he drove off. "AVENA?! OMFG IT'S YOU AVENA!!" I heard some girl shout from a distance. And soon, she ran to me, her high platforms stomping away as she ran.

"Thanks. That was close. I felt the change trying to come but it hurt bad this time." Ezra stayed close. "We push harder in training tonight. The moon gives extra power. We use it to our advantage." Later that night in the hidden clearing they trained under the same moon. The pull made everything more intense. They ran drills and pushed their bodies hard. "Feel the moon," Ezra said. "Use it. Push through the next drill. Come on." Dane moved fast. "It is strong tonight. The ceremony almost broke me. I barely held the secret in front of everyone."

The day smelled of roses and rain. Morning light spilled through the arched windows of the Moonspire Cathedral, catching on the silver banners that draped from the high ceilings. The banners bore two crests side by side — the wolf sigil of Kael’s house and the moonlit rose of the vampire court.

He looked up at me with eyes. "For the Luna " he whispered. He opened his hands. There was a white rose. It shouldn't have been possible. White roses didn't grow in the Silver-Grip. They were the symbol of the Goddess’s favor. They were thought to be extinct. As I took the flower my silver blood surged. The rose didn't just sit in my hand. It started to grow. Its stem coiled around my wrist. The scent of it filled the room. It was a fragrance. "The land doesn't care about your order, Lady Selene " I said. My voice was strong. "It cares about the heart. You ask for a sign? Look at this child. He was meant to die for your 'stability.' Instead he is the fruit of the new world."

Crescent’s Pov Crescent means death. But this felt worse than death itself. The way his eyes had darkened. The way he stared at me as if I was nothing but an imposter. It broke me. Tore through me in pieces that I never knew existed. For the first time I wished I wasn’t this person I didn’t have these powers, I was just Cory. Plain old cory who had nothing but being shy around Anton. I looked in the direction he had gone, maybe I should chase after him.
