Reid asked Ian and he suddenly looked nervous. "I, I don't know... I actually don't know the difference." I groaned as I looked away from him. I couldn't even bring myself to look at him because I was afraid I would make him feel worse then I'm sure he already feels. "So wait, you're hearing a voice, in your head and it's a wolf?" Reid asked, turning his attention back to me. "Yes and he's a moron and won't shut up!" I said, then glared at Reid when he tried not to laugh.

A sudden, treacherous heat coiled deep in my belly. A reminder of the night before that made me want to whimper. I squeezed my legs shut, my face flushing a deep, humiliated crimson. “Mate,” Mia whispered, her tail wagging so hard in my mind it felt like my ribs were vibrating. “He smells like pine trees and sin. Look at those shoulders.” 'Get back,' I snarled at her, shoving her into the darkest corner of my subconscious. 'He is the enemy.' Reid didn’t move. His golden eyes were fixed on me, unblinking.

But guilt was louder than desire. I pressed my forehead to his chest instead of closing the distance. “Reid…” My voice cracked. “This is exactly the problem.” His grip loosened just slightly. Not gone, just… listening. “I’m supposed to end things with Liam tonight,” I whispered. “He’s planning something big, and I’m here doing shots and dragging you into my apartment like I’m the main character in a disaster movie.” Reid let out a quiet breath above my head, his chin resting lightly in my hair. “You are a disaster,” he murmured, not unkindly. “But you’re my favorite one.”

The air seemed to vibrate with their dark intentions, the shadows in the room deepening as if feeding off their malevolent energy. Reid's eyes glazed over, his mind consumed by visions of dominance. He pictured Claudine, her Lycanaea power harnessed to serve him, her will bent to his command. He saw himself ruling over the packs, unopposed and unrivaled, with Claudine as his ultimate weapon. The thrill of victory coursed through his veins, his heart pounding with anticipation. "Ariella," he whispered, his voice snapping back to reality. As if recognizing the voice, Reid withdrew his hand while I remained standing staring, expecting his punch on my face as that would definitely mean him returnin

I came back to my senses and realized I had given in to my wolf and satisfied her by touching the man I should not have touched. "Damn it," I heard him curse under his breath. "I’m not going to hurt you. Stand up and stay in your bed." I nodded and returned to my bed without looking at him. I wiped away my tears. I was so frustrated when I realized that I had committed a shameful act. I hid under the blanket. He sighed once more, and after that, I heard his footsteps, and then the door opening and closing. Reid's POV After leaving the cell, I couldn't face my mate. I know Eric was an evil man. I know he's done horrible things to my mate.... But this is just something I've never done before. I feel more like I'm one of them now. I feel like I'm the monster now. I feel disgusting, my skin feels like it's crawling, like I need to crawl out of it and hide. I head straight to my office, needing to be alone, and needing a shower. I'm so thankful I had that bathroom put in.

And somewhere in that dark, Tyler prowled alone, a king without a crown, a wolf without a mate, and a father who had lost his way. I clenched my fists, feeling the fire ignite deep inside me. His shirt was torn at the sleeve, his boots caked in mud and soot. His chest heaved as he stalked in, eyes flicking to me like he had a target painted on my back. Or maybe like I was the only one who could bear what he was about to say.

How’s mate life?” “Reid, I’m killing her father.” I growled into the phone. “What the fuck happened?” I explained everything from the multiple rapes and torture, to the whole business of not having an heir, to her father molesting her. Four years of abuse, torture, lies, and her behavior. By the end of it, Reid is growling on the phone. “Yeah, that motherfucker dies.” Reid said. “She is a killer. Why hasn’t she done it?”

~ On the drive back, with no one to fill the silence, my thoughts turned dark. Marcus Reid. Out of jail when he should’ve been rotting. That bastard looked me in the eye with so much confidence, almost like he knew the cops couldn’t touch him and maybe they couldn’t. I gripped the wheel tighter, my knuckles white.
