I had about fifteen minutes before school would be out. On the ride, I looked the flowers over to ensure the arrangement looked okay. I’d taken them to a florist I’d known for about half a century. She did excellent work. The arrangement consisted of Crocus flowers, Jillie’s favorite, red roses, and rainbow lilies, which was a vampire trick.

Within minutes, it was over. Silence fell like a curtain, heavy and absolute. The garden, once a haven of peace, was now littered with bodies, the white stone paths slick with blood. The lilies—pure, delicate—had been stained crimson at their roots, their petals splattered with gore. And the vyreleaf, the prize they had come for, stood untouched in the moonlight. Its dark green leaves trembled gently in the breeze, as if mocking the carnage around it.

Its petals shimmered with an otherworldly iridescence, shifting between shades of silver and pale blue as if capturing the very essence of moonlight. At least while she wasn’t in a trance at first, and this one was like the first one, not like the three that everyone thought might be some kind of countdown.

I decided to make a drawing for each person. So far, I have finished one for Nova, Axel, Waylon and Jessica. Since I didn’t know Lilith that well, I just drew her a big ass flower. The dimensions were very delicate work. Since Tiger Lilies are my favorite, that is what I went with. Using come bright orange, it had spots of yellow and even red in it. The stem was dark green and the middle was a dark brown. Overall, I loved this picture.

As much as I despised her, Lila had a way of describing things so vividly that it felt like I was living through her memories. The ritual space was set outside the castle, glowing in the soft light of the evening.
