There were all kinds of people: wolves , witches and even fae with the odd human . The crowd started shouting and whistling , drawing my attention to the cage . I watched as a she-wolf entered , she's small but athletic . I can't see her face as she's bouncing on her feet as she has her back to me . She has her blonde hair in two braids , and sports gear on . My wolf starts to pace again as the wolf turns . It's then that I lock eyes with the same eyes of the golden wolf .

I said with a humorless smile. “Maybe you are,” The old man said, his voice slipping into something deeper. “There is a legend… of a fox and a kitten: two creatures that should never be one, and yet they were. The fox, clever and ruthless, ruled the shadows, untouchable and wild. The kitten, small and delicate, was born with the soul of a hunter but trapped in a body too soft, too vulnerable.” I held my breath as he continued, “The fox found the kitten one night, abandoned in the dark. It should have devoured the small thing. But it did not.”

Red fox slashes the side of his face with the sword, leaving an ugly gash running along Cesar's cheekbone. The world seems to stop when the blade presses into Cesar's neck. He began the story. His voice was low and steady, perfectly pitched for drawing little listeners (and tired grown-ups) into sleep. It was an old story—one his own mother had told him, he had once mentioned in passing, in a moment of vulnerability that felt like a lifetime ago—about a little fox who got lost in the woods and found her way home by following the stars.

Oceana said in fear as she saw a nine tailed fox walking towards her with an angry face. She picked up a stick from the ground and tried using it, but the fox wasn't backing out. Oceana stepped backwards on ever step the fox made, and she didn't know when she stumbled on a stone and fell. The nine tailed fox wasn't backing down as it moved closer and closer to her. Oceana crawled backwards, and then she fell into a hole.

I whispered, slowly walking over to the locked door and staring at it. Suddenly, I noticed a crack forming on the door, and my gaze turned to one of horror as I moved back. "The door is going to break down!" I yelled, causing the other creatures to look scared. The fox ran over to me, seeing the fear in my eyes. "He warned you this would happen. He asked you to go home, but instead, you decided to stay," the fox said, keeping his eyes fixed on me. "You have to run and escape through the window. If you stay, he might hurt you."

“What fox?” “This one here. Don’t you see it? Guarding that shadow?” She points to the corner of the page where there is, indeed, a little white fox, and behind it, the shadow of a… a great wolf. A strange sense drifts over me as I slowly turn the page.

But I knew that now that we had a better life, minus the threat to it from the rogues, she would need to learn to be more open to the people around her. I wanted her to know that not everyone was going to hurt her. I gasped silently as the crowd cleared, and I was able to see the front of the first van. The white painted metal was caved in, dents covered the front, and smoke was thickly billowing from the engine. There were crimson smears around and in the damaged metal, and my jaw dropped open at the obvious chuck of fur dangling from the vehicle. "Holy crap, Olivia!" The general's eyes blazed with a fury that sent shivers down the spines of all present, freezing them in their tracks.
