The door swung open. A tall, powerfully built man filled the doorway. **Kai Grayson**, 34. Ex-Army Ranger turned survival writer. Sharp jawline, intense dark eyes, short-cropped black hair, and a body honed by years of harsh training and mountain living. He looked at her like she was a hallucination. “You shouldn’t be out here,” he said, voice deep and rough. “No shit,” Lila snapped through chattering teeth. “My car is stuck. Phone’s dead. Can I come in? Please. Just until the storm passes.”

Frank remained near the front. The older wolf looked sick. Absolutely sick. Then Grayson saw him. The rider sat alone atop a black horse roughly fifty yards beyond the gate. Motionless. Waiting. Even from a distance, something about him felt familiar. Wrongly familiar. Like seeing a reflection in broken glass. The man wore dark traveling leathers beneath a long gray cloak. No weapons were visible. That didn't mean anything. The horse shifted. The rider slowly raised his head. And Grayson forgot how to breathe.

“Hey, is Gray no longer with us?” “Yeah, he was murdered,” Hugo said. The news hit me like a ton of bricks. Gray was always a step ahead of everyone, unbeatable. I had a feeling he’d eventually piss someone off or get on the wrong side of someone. “Do you know this guy?” Hugo showed me a picture of another guy on his phone. This guy was ripped and covered in tattoos. His hair was pitch black, his eyes a piercing blue, and his look was tough, with multiple piercings in his ears and nose.

I demanded, taking her hand as we headed inside through the moss-covered path that led to the main door. “I don’t know…something dark and Dracula-like. Not this,” she shrugged. I chuckled, and before I could even knock, the door opened, revealing a smartly dressed man with a sharp angular face, dark hair and red eyes. The stench was so revolting, I almost puked if it wasn’t for Ivy’s scent giving me some support. “Alpha Asher Gray, I assume,” he said, his voice deep like night. “You must be, Orion?” I muttered.

the man said as he stepped out of the shadows. He was tall, like most dragonkin with Sire blood were, I reckoned he was in his mid-thirties or so. He had light blue eyes and dark brown hair that hung down to his shoulders. His clothes were expensive and his hands looked like they had seen plenty of fights. “The infamous Ryder Grey, elite hunter of the supernatural world, we meet at last,” he said as he sat down on the chair that Clifford had placed in front of me. “I assume you’re Carlson,” I said to him and he smiled at me.

the man says as I begin to try and pull my arm from this dude grasp, in seconds his cries fill the dungeons. Gray had took hold of his hand while somehow, taking my arm out of the dudes grasp. The guy falls to his knees holding tightly onto his arm. "I don't share" Gray growls out looking down at the crying man, he looks around at the other men in the cells who all just stood shocked in place "anyone else want to try? It is getting a little crowded in this place, perhaps I should start freeing up some spaces" he laughs walking around looking at the men, once he turns to look in the cell beside the crazy dude he stops.

It's like a melting pot of everything dark and poisonous in one place. We don't have a proper footing through the damn crownd when a man drops a few meters from me, clutching his throat, froth erupting from his mouth in the process. I jump back from the shock of it all, eyes lifting as one of the men exited the dark green tent throwing the dead man's contents out with him before turning on his heels. I swallow now taking back what I said about this place. The most dangerous of all was that people were here. "Stay close, " Grayson whispers to me and I nod, reaching for his hand hoping to restore a little peace to my soul.
