"Ah, *The Library Dragon*. Yes. It's a favorite." Julian nodded once, his gaze not quite reaching hers. He wasn't accustomed to small talk. Not accustomed to this softness. And certainly not accustomed to *lingering*. She waved her hand gently. "It's in the children's section—over here." He followed her through the store, his steps light behind her. The shelves loomed above them like old friends. Motes of dust danced in bars of slanting light from high windows. Lena felt the rise and fall of his breathing behind her—too close, too quiet—but said nothing.

I faked a nod while disappointment flooded through me. Yeah, they probably stashed it away. Only allowing certain people to access it, and I didn't count. "But if what you mean is the history of the pack overall, there's a library where those books are kept." Daria smiled, and I felt a wave of relief wash over me when she didn't appear to be suspicious. "I can take them over there if you'd like."
