“The one about the lonely princess and the dragon who took her away.” “That one’s sad, honey. Let’s read something happier.” I reached for the book on my nightstand, a massive, leather-bound volume of classic fairy tales that I kept handy for nights like this. I opened it to a random page, settling on a story about a mischievous tooth fairy. My voice was soft and dramatic as I began to read. “...and the fairy, with a flick of her tiny tooth-shaped wand, transformed the hunter’s prize-winning hound into a perfect little frog...”

A pair of iridescent wings fluttered gracefully, revealing the presence of a fairy—a being seldom encountered in the realms of werewolves and vampires. Hera and I exchanged intrigued glances, captivated by the fairy's radiant presence. She was obviously part kitsune, a Japanese fox shifter, and a powerful one judging from the number of her tails, but I wasn't sure if her other half was naga, a Hindu snake shifter, or djinn, an Arab fire fairy. The lights?” Dakari looked mystified, awed, “I have heard it said that fairies are one with the elements. Are you one with the northern lights?” he spoke in absolute astonishment and respect. Hearing voices all around them, chanting something of an unknown origin. Only to watch in disbelief of the horrific acts that proceed next, in watching their own babies being eaten alive, right in front of their very own eyes! Hi everyone! Rafe is far richer than Faghri. Rafe replies in a sad voice, "I looked in the cave, but there's no sign of anyone. Then Rafe reminds Faghri of something strange they saw. "Remember when the black wolf disappeared?" he asks. They both saw a mysterious black wolf turn into a bunch of fireflies. Faghri, quiet for a moment, agrees with Rafe. He also saw the wolf turn into fireflies, which doesn't make sense. Even though Faghri doesn't usually believe in magic, he can't ignore what he saw with his own eyes.
