Annoyed at not getting the answer I wanted. “He-He’s dead Sirs” stammers Darius over the phone, his voice low. “WHAT?!” shouts Angelo and I. “It’s true Sirs. They’ve mounted his head on the traitors pike for all to see. I would have called sooner but I was too scared of being caught so I didn’t.” admits Darius. Feeling my temper rise, I move to shove the papers off my desk, my hand reaching for a glass cup that was sitting nearby before whipping it across the room, the cup shattering as Darius’s voice speaks up yet again.

His eyes burned with a cold, terrifying anger. "You will not hurt my sister," Micah snarled, his voice a low, threatening growl. "And you will not hurt that boy. Release him now, Darius. Or I will show you what a Mooncrest Beta does when his family is threatened." Darius's face was a study in shock and disbelief. "You are dead. I killed you. I saw you die." You did not kill me, you only injured me," Micah said, a grim smile contorting his lips. "But you are a dead man, Darius. A dead man walking. You just do not realize it yet."

"You don't know anything about her. Or her dad." I leaned over the rail. "Jax, he's baiting you. Stay smart. We need him talking after, not broken." Darius bucked and reversed, pinning Jax briefly. "Her dad? The traitor who burned the labs? I know plenty. He died screaming your family's name." Jax flipped him off and rose, breathing hard. "Lies. He died fighting control freaks like you." He charged again, feral and relentless, landing combos that had the crowd on their feet. Darius took hits that would drop most men but kept grinning.

Marissa was expecting something else, she had to take him back to the warlock so they would examine the type of bloodsucker he was since Elijah said they weren't common vampires. Beckham stabbed Darius with a stake and his skin turned gray before he froze at the spot. Elijah pulled him into the dungeon before locking him inside. They hoped that when he woke up, he would be too weak to break out of there. Darius was no good, he had ruined their lives several times, he was a ripper and he had committed different atrocities and he had never given a thought of changing for good. It was his time to pay for all the bad deeds he had done. It was his day of reckoning.

Before we could figure out what was going on, Arya's voice erupted in a loud scream, crying bitterly. When the door opened, we saw Arya crying beside Darius's body, and Dr. Vale came out. "Arya is healed, but—" Her eyes met Leo and Luke. Their faces instantly changed, and Leo released my hand from his grip. "Darius didn't make it. Something was fighting me, and I couldn't heal him. His heart had already stopped before I could think of another way." "No," Luke murmured. "Not my son." He staggered as he walked toward the room. He let out a loud growl when he saw Darius lying lifeless on the bed.

Alpha Darren immediately hugged Diana before she could even respond, because he knew this was a very painful fact to hear, even worse than it already was. Diana's lips trembled as she asked again. "So.... now he's...." "He's probably dead. He was shot multiple times, bleeding profusely and may have drowned in the river or been swept away," Miranda replied looking completely carefree. Meanwhile Diana covered her mouth with her arm. "Why did such a good person have to go first? Why Darren?" Diana regretted it because if only Karrel was still around, maybe he would be a good family member besides George.

Wayne murmured. “People don’t just stop being fathers.” Darius’s voice went low. “You don’t know what you’re talking about.” “Then tell me.” Darius stared at him for a long moment, like deciding if he should. Finally, he said, quietly, “She died.” “Your Luna?” He nodded once. “During an ambush. I was out trying to save the pack, and by the time I got back—” He stopped. His hands clenched, knuckles pale. “She was gone. She died protecting him.”

The two healers from the vault were dead. Thorne’s traitor Lycans were all dead too. Every single one. Elder Vex’s brother had died with a smile on his face, like he’d accomplished what he came for. I found Darius in the courtyard, covered in blood that wasn’t all his, holding Elias who was shaking despite trying not to. “You’re okay,” Darius said the second he saw me, pulling both me and Aria into a hug so tight I couldn’t breathe. “You’re both okay.”

Kyle countered even when his will to participate in anything further was clearly lost "OH, BUT YOU DO KNOW ABOUT IT." Heralis smirked. "IT WAS WHAT KILLED YOUR OLD MASTER. DARIUS.*

Darius said defeatedly. I felt bad for him. His life had shattered in the past few days. His Luna turned out to be a murderer, who killed his previous mate to become the queen. His beloved son Kael was still in disheveled state after Coco, under house arrest. His one daughter in law turned out to be a witch. Alaric was a Nightshades and he was clueless about that. I wasn't saying Darius was a good person or he never did nothing wrong but his karma got back to him in a really bad way. He was left alone at his old age.
