They just stared at me, their gazes so intense that it made my knees feel weak. I was in shock. I couldn’t believe it. Was I really hearing this? I rubbed my eyes roughly, convinced I must be dreaming. “Mate! Mate! Mate!” A voice I hadn’t heard in years screamed from deep inside me. It was my wolf. I kicked open a door to the right. Nothing. "Clear!" Then I came to another door across the hallway and heard voices. I kicked it open, and Xander and Elias were standing there nude, having just shifted, and Balista and Sasha were backed against the wall.

Warden. The impact shook the cavern. I moved. I couldn’t fight like them without worrying about Aria’s bond pulling me apart. So I put myself between Elias and the skeletons, white wolf vs. undead army. Teeth, claws, blood. The skeletons didn’t feel pain, but they broke. They shattered under my jaws, under Darius’s claws, under Elias’s sword when he shifted back to use it. Null shrugged, disinterested as the clearly human warrior demanded from him answers that he can easily give but was too unamused to care that she had resorted to being allied with a mere mortal. Jack raised his rifle. The lights in the corridor turned red. At the far end of the hall, a heavy blast door opened. A figure walked out. He wasn't wearing armor. He was wearing a pristine white suit. He held a cane, much like Sebastian used to. But his cane was tipped with a glowing blue crystal. The Warden. "Welcome to Deepwater 9, Mr. Sterling," The Warden smiled. He looked strangely... perfect. Too symmetrical. Like a plastic doll brought to life. "I've been expecting you. Victoria said you were persistent."
