Everything inside me froze as a deep sadness engulfed me. Drakkan chuckled at the reaction his words brought from me. “They pleaded. Cried. Screamed.” He tilted his head and he had an unhinged look in his eyes. “And when I burned their bodies? Turned them into a stew to celebrate our victory?” He smirked. “They tasted delicious.” Something inside me snapped. A white-hot rage tore through my body and I let out an ear splitting scream before I lounged at him without even thinking. My new dagger flashed in a streak of obsidian that sliced through the air. Drakkan dodged, but I was faster. As he underestimated me. I twisted and slammed my knee into his ribs, I felt a satisfying crack.

Everything that’s been churning inside me for days is finally bubbling up, ready to explode. “I was going to kill you!” I burst out. The three of them exchange confused glances. “Just like Quinton killed Felicity,” I add, my voice cracking. More hot tears sting my eyes. “I was going to kill you. I watched him kill her during the battle, and I realized that could have been us. That could have been us killing each other.” Frost reaches out to brush my still wet hair over my shoulder. “It was not, however. We’re safe.”

Her skin turned a sickly shade of gray, and her eyes rolled back in her head. She let out a blood-curdling scream, the sound echoing off the walls as she collapsed to the ground. Her body convulsed, her limbs thrashing wildly as she fought against the inevitable. And then, it was over. Delilah's body went still, her eyes fixed on some point beyond the ceiling. I stood there, my heart pounding in my chest, as I realized that I had actually done it. I had killed Delilah.

The revelation hit me like a punch to the gut, leaving me breathless. Davina rushed to my side, her eyes wide with concern. The playful spark that once danced in her gaze was now replaced by an urgent worry that pulled at her brow. "Vance, what’s wrong?" Her voice was laced with urgency as she placed a hand gently on my arm, grounding me amidst the chaos in my mind. I stood there, paralyzed by disbelief, the gravity of Alex’s words crashing over me like a wave. My brother, my own flesh and blood, was facing the unimaginable—a death sentence.

I replied sullenly. “I will marry someone else and leave you to your faith with the devil,” she responded harshly. A knife stabbed at my chest instantly and a frown fell on my face. I could not help but to imagine Nate with her immediately after I died. My inner body immediately raged with hurt and disappointment, it hurt so bad. “Hey…” “I’m joking,” she suddenly entered and moved closer to me. “I was joking,” she repeated but I honestly didn’t see it as a joke. I was dying after all.

Seeing that she was unsatisfied with his response, he added, “We were just letting off some steam before the alpha challenges in a few weeks.” Angel’s mood seemed to change almost instantly. She seemed to shift before his eyes from anger to downright disdainful, rolling her eyes and scoffing. Hackles rising at her reaction, he automatically asked, “What’s with the eye roll?” Angel offered him a pointed look then, and the realization hit him like a slap in the face. Of course she would react with distaste at the mention of the alpha challenges, her father had almost died because he had felt the need

I may love them but they can be really annoying sometimes However, my wary reaction morphs into shock when I see who’s standing in the foyer with bright swollen red eyes. Amore… I can’t even get words out of my mouth as I stare at her after what seems to be a month. A month? Death turns to look at me and wink at me and that’s I understand that he is just playing with him. I yelled as I hit my fist on his chest, he flew across and fell to the hard ground. I looked down to find Death. I was wrong. It wasn't Chris who held me, it was that man I had a lot of hate in my heart for . “You devil!!.” I yelled as the earth I stood on began to shake. I was consumed with fire, my eyes were burning literally , I ran towards Death. “You killed him!!.” I yelled as I launched at him, I wasn't going to spare him, if he couldn’t die I am going to hurt him.

“Nothing I can’t fix. I hoped the rumors would scare her home, but it seems I need to take it to the next level, you filthy wolf.” I could hear the disgust in his voice, and though I wanted to push up from the ground and fight him, I was pretty sure someone had broken my leg and some ribs. I hated that these might be my last moments. I wanted to be with Daphne. If I was going to die, it had to be by her side. I closed my eyes, ready to face the death that was about to come, but I never heard the gunshot. Instead, something shifted in the room—a cold, icy wind seemed to blow in, and when I opened my eyes, I saw Daphne’s father trembling, but he wasn’t looking at me anymore.
