His breath caught, his claws trembling as he stared, disbelieving, at the woman he had mourned for lifetimes.
His voice broke. “Selene…?”
Her gaze was tender as she stepped closer, raising a hand to touch his face—but she did not. Her fingers hovered over his skin, a breath away, a memory made flesh. “You must not do this,” she whispered. “Let go, my love.”
The Death Wolf recoiled, his expression twisting with torment. “She killed you!” His voice cracked, raw and fractured. “She took you from me! She deserves to die for what she’s done!”
