Quietly, I slipped out of bed, careful not to wake her. Downstairs in the living room, I finished the decorations I'd started the night before while she slept. Pink, white, and gold balloons floated from the ceiling, tied with ribbons that swayed gently. Fresh flowers, and her favorite wild orchids, filled vases on every table, their scent filling the air. I adjusted a few petals, making sure it looked just right. The bedroom would be next; I'd sneak in later to add balloons and blooms there too, so she'd wake up to a surprise.
