Her crown fell to the marble floor with a clear clang, there seems also to be a clanging sound of someone's sword falling to the ground outside the palace gates. The deep red gem on the crown shattered and scattered. Warm blood down the steps on the cold ground, slowly spreading, reminiscent of the shallow creek she used to play in barefoot as a child. This golden hall of Avalon became her grave, swallowing her bones, burying her life. Outside, the sun shone on the snow, melting it bit by bit…

Whatever noble refinement he had spent years cultivating shattered like cheap glass. Sebastian let out a short, contemptuous laugh. His polished, hand-made leather shoe came down, pinning Lorenzo’s palm to the floor with agonizing precision. "The head of the family? Lorenzo, you seem to have forgotten who anointed you to that seat. In this city, what I bestow, I can reclaim whenever I please." Pinned and helpless, Lorenzo twisted his head, staring up at me with eyes saturated in pure venom. "Joanna, you make me sick. I can't believe how fast you crawled into the Don’s bed."

"Today is coronation day and we would be announcing the 6 lovely women chosen for this year's Alpha." Royal Consorts are not just for Alpha's per se, they're made to be wives of any male with an Alpha bloodline. Last 6th of June, consorts were chosen for one of the financial advisors back at the palace. Coronation days are only done every 6th of June and 6th of December.

I scrolled down and started reading the article. 'A curious announcement from the royal house of Medora, a kingdom north of Scotland. The king announced today that a contest will be held to find the crown prince a wife. Medora is known to be secluded, with not much news coming in and out of the country. They announced a test will be put online for whoever has any interest in becoming a queen. It does not matter what your nationality is, as long as you are above eighteen years old.'

But the fear that she had expected, the fear of being seen and found insufficient, the fear that had lived in her chest for as long as she could remember and had been the quiet companion of everything she had ever attempted, was not there. She put this in the back of her mind to examine later, when she had more time to understand what its absence meant. "The children," she said. "At the ceremony. I want them to be present." Alexander considered this. "It is not traditional for children to attend a coronation." "I am aware," she said. "I want them present anyway. The formal recognition of the triplets as royal wards is part of the Astrean restoration. Their presence at the coronation makes th

“But we’re not leaving until after your coronation.” Thrystan’s response is nothing more than a grunt, his mood clearly less than accommodating. “Well, you’re both at a loss then,” he mutters, gulping down a goblet of cherry wine. “The coronation isn’t happening until after the plague has been dealt with—here at the palace and possibly throughout the North.” Sirius exchanges a glance with Cromwell, their brows furrowing slightly. “But if you’re not ruling yet, what is the coronation for?” I find myself asking, curious despite the tension that lingers in the air.

I say. ‘Careful there beautiful…’ Zedkiel murmurs in my mind. ‘You don’t want to make enemies up here.’ ‘I know.’ “His Supreme Majesty will attend your coronation, My Goddess.” He says, bowing his head. “Very well.” I declare with a nod. This is going to be our chance; this coronation or ritual was going to be the start of getting the answers that we needed and to plead for redemption. We approach the palace and as we do; I see rows and rows of people as far as I can see, bowing down on their hands and knees, their foreheads touching the floor.

Archie gave a quick, light laugh and then gave Dylan a quick kiss. "You learned about the coronation, didn't you?" "Yes but..." "But nothing... Everything will be fine." "I hope so." "Does that mean that tomorrow we can't make love, does it?" "Yes…" Dylan replied doubtfully, "How do you know?" "Your father once told me... He said that the coronation process is preceded by a kind of purification ritual." "Yes... If I will be crowned the day after tomorrow it means that I will have to spend the night praying and before that I will have to confess my sins. The next day I will have to take a special bath and fast until the moment of the coronation. ."

"Did you sit with them?" "For the full hour," Vida told me, crossing to the small table and setting down a long, carefully wrapped bundle. "We talked about the previous heir. About the coronation sixty years ago." She paused, her eyes meeting mine with that steady healer gaze that had carried me through so many late nights. "They said it was nothing like this one. They said sixty years ago the coronation was political. Managed. Careful." She held my gaze. "They said this one feels different."

He smiled, seeing the confused look on their faces and went ahead to explain things. “How can she be your daughter? She's the daughter of a maid!” A woman pointed out. Arizona to be precise. “Imogene is my only child hence, I give you, my heir and as of today, the supreme alpha; Imogene Blackwood.” Dad said, conclusively. There was a faint forced applause from the crowd and I smirked. I took the microphone to address them. “The formal coronation will be done the next full moon which is in a week's time. Thank you! Let the party begin.” I said, dismissively and hugged my Dad who didn't forget to show how proud he was of me.
