“He looks proud.” “Proud?” I snapped. “He should be running for his life.” The stray didn’t even react—just kept eating as if my presence meant nothing. Unbelievable audacity. Salome’s POV “Stay still, little one, I’m not going to hurt you,” I whispered, keeping my voice as steady as possible. The tiny kitten huddled in the furthest, darkest corner under the restaurant bench. Her fur was matted with dust, and her frame looked painfully thin. She let out a high-pitched cry that cut right through the ambient noise of the dining room. I reached a hand toward her, but she scrambled back further, her pupils blown wide with terror.

I let out a squeal when he pulls out three different Bengal kittens. “These are the only three left. You get first choice.” Quinton states. I watch as Tigo walks over and starts to smell each kitten. It shocks us when he grabs the small damn near black Bengal kitten. She has jsut a hint of dark orange weaved in with all the black. I smile as Tigo takes the kitten to the corner of our room, where all his stuff is. “Looks like that is the one we want.” I comment.

“Despicable human! How dare you! Where’s my dignity as the great ruler?!” At the old woman’s enthusiastic invitation, I picked up a cat teaser toy and played with Mew Mew for a while. That was when I realized… Mew Mew was a bit of a dimwit. It ignored the toy completely, choosing instead to claw at its shadow on the wall. Its tiny body bumped around clumsily, which only made it look even cuter. With the second room inspection done, I headed to the third. Knock, knock, knock. From inside, a rough, raspy voice called out, “Who is it?”

Don’t say no this time.” Katalina wanted to argue, but seeing how serious he looked, she just sighed. “Fine,” she said finally. “You win.” He smiled faintly. “That’s better.” There was a small silence, warm this time. Thirdie leaned back a little, looking at her again. Then his tone changed slightly, teasing but curious. “By the way,” he said, “why is your assistant a man?” Katalina blinked, then grinned. “Are you jealous?”

The little bugger was thirsty and took to the cream with gusto. The little mischief-maker was even kind enough to start flexing his tiny claws. She yelped in surprise, pulling the lid off completely. Inside was a tiny, fluffy calico kitten, a patchwork of black, gray, orange, and white. Its wide blue eyes looked up at her, and it let out a pitiful little “Meeeeow!” “Oh! Ohhh!” Kathrine gasped, scooping the kitten into her arms. It clung to her bright green shirt with its tiny claws, mewling softly. “She’s so cute and tiny and…!”
