Malix faked a sob, so I took out my gun to point it towards him, but he already hidden below the table where he was eating. The humor vanished instantly, so I asked, “Have you found out who sent those messages stamped with her parents’ address?” The room fell into a heavy, deliberate silence. “Whoever did it knew exactly what they were doing. We couldn’t find tracks,” Dexter said as he stepped forward, placing several thick folders onto the table. The dull thud echoed in the room. “And her parents are missing.” “I know,” I replied flatly, flipping one folder open. “Have you started tracing them?”

Grace picked up the teacup, casting another meaningful glance at Orson. Dexter looked at him. "I had official business before coming here. It's done now. Orson, you can head back." Orson looked nervously at Grace. He then reminded Dexter, "Don't forget the doctor's orders. Your health is important. Get some rest early." He emphasized the last part heavily. Once he left, Grace asked, "Mr. Hamilton, you look young and vigorous. How could you have health issues?" Dexter had remained single for years, partly due to his dislike of dealing with women, as he found it troublesome. However, being able to play against Grace, who was bright and clever, didn't seem so bad.

I removed the spoon from my grip, and it clattered loudly onto the plate. Dexter's head snapped up. He had sharp eyes and locked onto mine. He sat sprawled in his chair, like a king who surveyed his court lazily holding one hand with a crystal glass of whiskey and the other one in his lap. His stare was not lazy at all. It was too dark and calculating, and far too perceptive. "What the fuck is wrong with you?"

Richard asked. "Yes, sir," he replied. "I got a paid internship with them and they give me the time off I need. I'm a pretty good technician, so the classes aren't all that difficult for me." Her dad made a comment about all the jobs being technical now and went on a little spiel on the topic. "And if you don't mind me asking, what about your family?" her mother asked. "Well, it's just me and my dad and my big brother, Jack," Dexter said. "My mom passed away from Leukemia when I was a kid, so my dad raised me and my brother on his own."

His eyes were dark and expressionless as he removed his black gloves from both his hands. "You've never changed??" Sylvester's voice echoed around the silent room as dexter turned towards the direction of the voice and his eyes met sylvester's stormy grey eyes and unique features.
