“How about you tell him you are a god! You didn’t show up there to explain why I wouldn’t take the contract.”
Kurai stared at me. His thick eyebrow arched. “I, a god, don’t want to talk to someone like him,”
“Why? Are you afraid?” I mocked.
His lips wry, “Afraid?” and he scoffed, “I am waiting for him to make a move before I will appear,”
“A move? From what? To the new contract?”
“That and the other one,”
“What’s that?”
“To attack you,”
Then a look of shocked surprise came into my face, and I wondered why, until I realized that I threw my head back and was laughing ruefully. “What?! Why would he attack me? Because of my voice? If I am dead, the voice is gone,”
