The room fell silent, all eyes turning towards him. “Well, folks,” Jerry began with a mischievous glint in his eye, “it looks like we’ve officially hit rock bottom. But hey, that means there’s no way to go but up, right? Unless, of course, someone hands us a shovel!” He mimicked the action of digging with an imaginary shovel, complete with sound effects. There was a moment of stunned silence. Damien raised an eyebrow, half-expecting an explosion of frustration. But then, one by one, the tension in the room broke as smiles appeared on the faces around the table. A few chuckles escaped, and soon the entire room was laughing.

Right before me, they began to lock lips, making me scrunch up my face in disgust. I waited for them to be done and when they were, I spoke up again. "I need to pee." I said, making all of them burst out into a round of hysterical laughter. "Go on. Don't let us stop you." Jordan mocked. "Just let it all out." Steve said, in between laughter. "Or you need to...strip, first?" Their laughter got even louder with every stupid joke they made, and I was slowly loosing it. I was tired of being laughed at and ridiculed by these bunch of assholes.

"Ah! Nothing, Jared. Your mother and I are just talking about something. She told me a joke, and it was so funny, which is why I burst out laughing." "May I know what joke it is, Dada?" Jessie laughed. "Oh, it is not for kids, Jared. Do not worry; once you finish your sketches there, Dada will tell you some jokes. Is that alright?" Jared thought about it for a couple of seconds before he nodded his head. "Alright, Dada!" Then he goes back to his sketch pad again. Jessie covered his mouth and chuckled as he took a glance at me. I glared at him and bumped his shoulder.

Dylan says with his usual poker face and hints of mischief in his voice. “Brother dearest, I am gonna bite you if you don’t set it aside.” Orlo flashes the fakest smile I have ever seen. “Do you think my teeth are for decoration?” Dylan showcases his upper canines. “My dear comrades, shall we go inside?” I cut in, rather in a commanding voice. Laugh all you want during joke hours but when its time to work get your arse staight into buisness. And it is neither the place nor the time for big jokes. Small ones are okay, though.

“Hey, no brooding. This is an adventure, not a prison sentence. Let me distract you.” She turned to him, her expression wary. “What are you going to do? Tell me one of your terrible jokes?” “You wound me,” he said, clutching his chest dramatically. “But yes. Absolutely.” He cleared his throat, adopting a serious tone. “Why don’t skeletons fight each other?” Riele blinked, momentarily thrown off. “Why?” “Because they don’t have the guts.” The joke was terrible. Absolutely awful. But Riele burst into laughter anyway, the tension in her chest breaking apart with each giggle. Jay grinned, triumphant, as if her joy were his greatest victory.

Why call me nerd every damn time ? I hated that word !! “None of your damn business, dumb fvck,” I replied, the anger coming from somewhere else. He smelt like oh gawd, did he sleep with the entire female university population here ? “Wow, you called me dumb. That is the joke of the century,” Lex laughed out loud while slapping his knee dramatically. Drama Queen, ughh !

Noah's voice pulled me back to reality. "Oh, sorry. I was just thinking about something." "I know you're under a lot of pressure right now, especially with everything going on at home," he said with concern. "Honestly, when I heard about your situation, I really wanted to help you. We've been classmates for so many years, after all." I looked at his "sincere" expression and sneered inwardly. Noah lowered his voice. "I know a quick way to make money. It's nothing illegal. Just a little risky."

It was still there, but lighter. “Yeah, pushy, that’s her,” he agreed. “My type? Girls who laugh at my jokes. Even the bad ones. And don’t mind if I suck at dancing.” “Your jokes? All bad, man,” I teased. I stretched my leg out and shoved his swing with my foot. It twisted to the side and he yelped. “Hey! Not all,” he shouted, trying to shove me back with his own foot. “Remember that one about Jax and the pizza? Gold.”

When my joke lands she tilts her head back to laugh, shaking her head as she looks at me. "You're ridiculous." She says. "You're smiling." I respond. She gives me that warm look again and I wonder what's going through her mind at this moment. "You got any other ones?" She asks and I wrack my brain for any other dad jokes. "Um... The circus lion ate the clown but didn't finish." I say. "Why?" She asks. "Because he tasted funny." I respond and Harper chuckles again. "More." She teases, but I just shrug.
