“It looks like it has been in there for quite some time as well, given the corrosion and holes in the metal. I’ll be having to take X-rays as we go to make sure no pieces brake off and remain behind.” His voice droned on about times and possible recoveries, but it was as if my whole world had condensed down to the feel of Adam’s hand in mine and that brightly illuminated spot right in his brain. “Wha?” I finally said after a mi Ute, everyone stopping and staring at me. “Maybe you should go and rest now, love. It may be difficult for you to watch your mate like this.” The Doctor offered. “No.” I squeezed Adam’s hand more tightly. “I’m staying right here.”

“P…please tell me there is hope.” “We would have to see.” The doctor said with no hint of certainty. He mumbled something unclear to me as my mind was no longer in place and excused himself. A shrilled noise went off in my ears as I staggered backward in shock pulling at my hair. The tears seemed to have run dry all of a sudden. I leaned against the wall blinking like a doll. I felt Drako’s warm hand on my shoulder, he had his head bent in front of me with his mouth moving but I couldn’t decipher his words.

REAH'S POV The door opened and a doctor walked in, he seemed to be in his late forties and he already had white hairs on his head. He walked over to me and tested me. He nodded his head and turned around, but froze when he saw Alpha Xavier in the room. "Alpha, I had no idea you were here. I'm so sorry, Please forgive me, Alpha," The Doctor immediately bowed. Alpha Xavier's expression turned to a deep frown as he glared at the doctor "How is she?" He asked him a question instead.

“You’re beautiful, babe.” “And you look pretty hot too, Dr. Jones.” She makes a move to come in and kiss me. I hold up my hand. “I almost forgot my accessories.” “Accessories?” I reach into my suitcase, pull out my stethoscope, and hang it around my neck. “No. You did not,” Quinn laughs. “We gotta make sure people know you’re dating a doctor, right?” She laughs again, throwing her head back. “I can’t believe you brought that and didn’t get it out until now.”

The room fell into a suffocating, dead silence for five agonizing seconds as the doctor checked for any sign of life. Slowly, the doctor lowered his hands. His face turned ghost-white, and he looked up at Maria and me with wide, terrified eyes. "He is gone," the doctor declared, his voice trembling violently. "Alpha Edward is dead."

He had strong, muscled legs. Draven, I need to stitch it. Where is your doctor? A man walked inside. I’m here; I will finish this. Thank you. I sat on the chair watching him as he stitched. Draven's face turned to me; his eyes fixated on me. Emily, his hand reached for mine. I hesitated, but since he lost blood, he won’t remember this. Alpha Draven is almost over…Then I looked at the doctor as he nodded. They carried him to his bedroom.

I would watch them beg for the very scraps they denied me. The door splintered. A clawed, grey hand—long and skeletal—burst through the wood, inches from my face. The screech that followed was the sound of my death. Then, a sound that didn't belong in a world of screams echoed in the very center of my skull. **[DING!]** A semi-transparent, neon-blue screen flickered into existence, hovering in the air above my dying eyes. It pulsed with a rhythmic light. **[Life Force Depleting... 3%... 2%...]**

After I hung up, Lambert sent me another video. In the video, Sampson's friends grew agitated as they spoke to Sampson. Furious, Sampson hurled his glass to the ground and it smashed into pieces. The surrounding people tried to calm him down. Desiree said something, and he began to laugh before kissing her lips. I knew Sampson must have found out that the Elders had been informing everyone about his funeral. He might have been blocking the mind-link, but his friends could still receive the news.

Cradling the infant gently. He looked directly into the lens. And smiled. “Phase three,” he said quietly. The feed cut. Silence swallowed the room. On the darkened screen, one final line appeared. RESERVE SUBJECT ACTIVATED. Blackout.

The last thing I heard were the frantic cries of Esmeralda, the last image I saw was Riccardo's worried and shocked expression which only meant one thing; if I'd be given the opportunity to fight then for their sake I will. ~Riccardo~ .....doctor save her, please you have to save her" i pleaded with unshed tears in my eyes. "We can't promise anything but we'd do our best to save her" he spoke with a voice void of any emotion and left for the ICU. "Daddy" Esmeralda's voice brought me back to reality and I looked behind to find her in the arms of a devastated Makayla and noticed that the bruises on her arms and neck had been attended to already.
