Richard leaned back slowly in his chair and rubbed his forehead. For the first time in a long while, he allowed the tiredness he usually hid to settle over him.
He had spent years trying to fix Damien’s life the only way he knew how. Doctors, specialists, medication plans, private care, monitoring. Every possible solution money could provide had been brought into this house.
And still, nothing was working.
If anything, things seemed to be getting worse.
He looked toward the large window behind his desk. Outside, the evening had already settled over the property. The gardens were quiet, the lights along the pathway glowing steadily in the distance.
