It’s a few doors down from the blue room where Mona had brought her earlier. A magnificent four-poster dominates the dark green room. Made of the same highly polished wood as the piano, the bed is just as intricately carved. The flames in the fireplace cast flickering shadows over the carvings. Above the mantelpiece there’s a painting of the house and the surrounding countryside, and at the far end of the room stands an immense wardrobe in the same wood as the bed. On every wall are shelves covered in books and curios, but Danica’s gaze is drawn to the nightstand where the little dragon night-light sits.

It’s a bit dim, only the ocherous light emitted by the lamp on either side of the wall gave way for me to see. I looked at each picture. And after three or four pictures I surveyed, I realized they are the wedding pictures of those sacrificed women and the Alpha they are married to—considering I’ve seen Melissa and Jason’s at the dead end part of the hall. The walls are in bloody red color with rose prints on the wallpaper. This looks like Dracula’s house like the one that I’ve seen in various adaptation movies. I gasped. “Wait, if there are werewolves, then there are also vampires?!” I tried so hard to cover my mouth so that I will not end up unleashing nonsense alarming shrills.

He thought she was extremely attractive for a woman her age. "Upstairs." He ordered and she followed, a lump camping in her throat. "Please, let my son go." She begged. "I said," Dracula began through gritted teeth. "Upstairs." Dracula pushed her up like a ragged doll. "Which one is your room?" She pointed the first door on the left and they got in. He shoved her on the bed and unbuckled his belt with list burning in his veins. "Please," she cried, her back against the bed with her legs spread apart.

Red glowing eyes and pointy teeth. Screams echoing through the dense forest and evil vampires cackling into the night. I woke up with a racing heart and in a cold sweat remembering everything. My hand went to the side of my neck and I felt a plaster over it. The sound of those fangs ripping through my flesh would forever be embedded in my memories. My eyes slowly adjusted to the light and I squinted as I looked around the room. I was in a bedroom. The walls were black and the interior of the room was grey and white.

“He shouldn’t be awake yet.” The doors opened on their own. Candle flames sprang up along the sconces, driving the daylight away. Dracula stepped inside, black coat unfastened, eyes too bright for morning. “Miss Blackthorne,” he said, smooth and calm. “And my faithful Elias. How industrious you both are.” The air in the room changed; it felt like standing between thunder and lightning. Elias bowed, barely. “My lord.” Dracula’s gaze slid to me. “The house says you found a mirror.”

The human's soft sigh suddenly reached his ears, casually drawing his attention. Such a peculiar being indeed, he mused upon taking notice of the feel of that small palm gently touching the middle of his shirt-clad chest, her cheek pressed against his pectoral as she slept as if she were being held by a loving parent, and not a vile and dangerous monster as himself. He wanted to chuckle at the thought. He carried her all the way upstairs and down the corridor, to her given bedroom, using his vampiric speed. She thankfully remained unconscious, not moving a single muscle.

The bathroom alone looked like it was carved out of marble stolen from the gods… and then bullied into obeying. My bedroom was bigger than my entire dorm room back at Avenmoor. Opulent, intimidating and probably full of old spirits judging me and every student had one. “Of course they do,” I grumbled, stepping onto the glossy floor. “Rich lycan princes with generational trauma always have too many guest rooms.” I was still admiring shit when something crashed in the bedroom. I groaned and my soul left my body. “Blue, I swear if you’re eating the furniture again... ”

She offered me a small smile, the kind I hadn’t seen since before Dad… since everything. “Mom,” I whispered, surprised. “Can I come in?” she asked. “Of course.” I said. I stepped aside, and she entered slowly, her eyes moving across the room. Adrian’s room, technically, but now ours. The walls weren’t crowded with portraits or tapestries like the movies always made you imagine a vampire’s home would be. It was sleek, modern, dark marble, floor-to-ceiling windows with smart tinting, a king-sized bed dressed in deep navy sheets. My mother’s fingers brushed the edge of the dresser, her eyes catching the faint glow of the city lights beyond the glass.

As the sun begins to set, I realize that I need to find a place to rest for the night. I continue walking until I come across a room that looks somewhat intact. The door creaks as I push it open, and I am hit with the smell of dust and decay. The room is furnished with a large, four-poster bed that has been covered in a layer of dust. The walls are adorned with faded tapestries depicting battles between werewolves and humans, and a chandelier hangs from the ceiling, its once-glistening crystals now dull and tarnished.

I suppose, in a way, that’s exactly what I was. Seb strode off into his bathroom and I looked around the room. The layout was the same as mine, but the four-poster bed I was sitting on was even more sumptuous. His covers were a dark forest green, embroidered with silver thread. It was cosy, with the candles all lit, flickering gently. Matching green, velvet, curtains surrounded the bed, and his furniture was black. It was almost modern looking, except for the traditional wainscoting and decorative carving. Then I noticed it was somewhat darker than my own room ever got during the day and realised a huge wardrobe was blocking most of the sole window in the room. Vampire stuff, I guess.
