DARKEST LOVE (CURSED) CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE * * The night was still young, Zara's gaze fluttered open from slumber, she couldn't remember what she had been dreaming about, she blinked to clear her eyes but couldn't see properly. It was dark. The heavy rain outside, the sound of wind whistling combined with the darkness sent a surge of fear through her spine. Why was it so dark? What had awoken her?

I purred seductively as I walked over to my bed and sat down. “Hi,” he replied with a small smile. He made no moves to come towards me; I think he was trying not to rush me. I patted the bed beside me and he eagerly trotted over and sat down. “Thanks for checking my room,” I whispered, playing with the neck of his t-shirt, tracing my finger along the skin there. “Anytime. I’m just sorry I won’t be here for you tonight. Try not to have too many nightmares, OK?” He looked at me with sad eyes; we both knew that I would have nightmares without him here.

I could hear my heart pounding inside my chest and my vein thumping in my throat. "So before taking another wrong step think about your little friend here," he spoke. He had filled the remaining distance between us and towered over me. I looked at Claire, who was staring back at me. This man has destroyed everything of me before and now, he was back to destroy me. You must be wondering who this man was and why was he after me. So, let's start from the beginning. This story began about a year ago. On my birthday night, that night which became my worst nightmare. I remember it as if it only happened yesterday.

Chapter 2: Awakening in the Den My eyes fluttered open to a world that felt wrong, like I'd stumbled into a dream I couldn't wake from. The air was thick and earthy, smelling of damp stone and smoke from flickering torches. I was lying on a rough bed of furs, my body aching from the chase through the woods. Every muscle screamed, but it was the heat inside me that scared me most—a slow burn starting low in my belly, spreading like wildfire. What the hell had happened? One minute I was hiking alone, trying to outrun my shitty city job and the emptiness it left, the next I was running from... wolves? No, not wolves. Men who turned into wolves. It was cold and freezing. She had just a hood on and a pair of torn dirty sandals. It was a rough thing to encounter. The breeze churned at her ears as it made angry sounds. She shuddered and bite her lips. It was as if someone was seeing her.

“The valley is showing you what you fear most. It is not real.” I forced myself to breathe. I forced myself to move. The voice faded, replaced by a low, creeping dread that coiled around my spine.
