The mass of black spiders fell to the floor and ran for the open door, out into the passageway, over the side of the boat, and into the ocean. “Oh my moons, oh my moons,” Leneve says exasperated and trembling, still trying to shake off any remaining spiders. “What happened?” Mathias asks, stepping back to make a little room. “It was her. I saw her in a dream and then I woke up covered in, in, those things!” She points to where the last of the spiders were creepily crawling over the boat’s edge. “Who?” I ask aloud curiously wondering who ‘she’ was. Rhett pulls Leneve into his arms, comforting her. “Yggdrasil.” He growls, frowning when the name drips with hate from his tongue.

I yawn out, cursing at myself for doing that. "Did I wake you?" He asks nervously. "Yeah, but you saved me from a bad dream." I laugh, shivering at the memory of the nightmare. "What was the dream about?" The interest in his voice makes me want to tell him, but for some reason, I choose not to. "Oh, it was nothing. Just...some...giant spiders chasing me." I grimace at my terrible lie. Giant spiders? Really? Couldn't I have thought of something less stupid?

I flopped back unto the chair like a rag doll. Damn! I was messed up now. I picked up my phone and winced at the bright light that hit my eyes. What! The time said 13 midnight. But that can't be right, so I shook my head to clear the cobwebs, but that just made me dizzy. Everywhere was spinning. I tried standing up again, but slipped and fell. I cackled gleefully. Multiple something's. I looked down and my life flashed before my eyes. Spiders, thousands of baby spiders and crickets. Why? "Ahhhhhhh." I screamed as one landed on my bare arm. I shook vigorously to get them off. I was quick to hop from foot to foot out of the bathroom as thousands of little spiders followed. "Help." I screamed to nobody in particular. I needed help. They were killer spiders. I had seen a book on them. A high breed spider that I should've never been able to create.

They bore the shape of a crescent on their backs. The spider was called the Blood Widow, a venomous insect only found in the Five Poison Sect. The Five Poison Sect were the most well-versed with venom, and that was no different with housing venomous creatures. Every venomous creature they housed was terrifying enough to bring about fear in the nation, especially the Blood Widow. It was considered to be one of the most evil creatures. One bite from the Blood Widow was enough to send its venom along the veins of the heart, spreading it through the entire body. It could even affect one's psyche, causing them to lose their mind.

Then I could let Edwards do his thing with the apple tree and I could get my inheritance and get on with my life. I huffed and turned one last time, slowly relaxing my eyes and letting them fall shut. Just before I fell asleep, I saw a brief movement out of the corner of my eye. They shot open and I screamed. In front of me, a huge black spider crawled over the driver’s seat. He was quick, scurrying to the middle console and up to the dashboard. He moved toward my side of the dash and I continued to scream. I fumbled with the door handle, finally getting it open after what felt like minutes.

The spider from my dream—the monstrous, car-sized beast with glowing yellow eyes—was here, its massive body twisting and writhing as it emerged from the shadows. “How is this possible?” I whispered, my voice trembling. The spider let out a screech, its fangs dripping with venom. “Priscilla,” Jake said, his voice urgent, “we’ll talk about Jena later. Right now, we have a real problem.” The spider lunged, its massive legs crashing down where Jake and I had been standing just seconds before. Jake shoved me aside, drawing his blade and slashing at one of its legs. The blade connected, leaving a shallow gash, but the spider barely seemed fazed.
