Dryad / Forest fairy The Dryad is a legendary creature from Greek mythology. According to Greek mythology, the Dryads were creatures, or a kind of fairy, who inhabited plants, taking the form of women. In Greek a similar term, drys, means oak. From this word arises the notion of the Dryads, namely the Nymphs who live in plants. The term is often used to describe Nymphs who live in trees in general. The Dryad character from Greek mythology appears in the fantasy story The Chronicles of Narnia as a female spirit that comes from trees.
