The phrase echoed deep inside me, striking a place I thought long dead. I looked at them—these wolves who had been cast aside, hunted, broken, forgotten. The word slipped from my tongue before I could think. Cassian frowned. "What?" "Duskwind," I repeated, louder. "The wind that carries dusk into night. The last breath before darkness, and the first before dawn. That’s what we are."

I announced. "Thank you for the review." I nodded. Graciano's face was two at a glance, one at a time. I was lost to Emerald Green's alcohol content. I wasn't sure if I was going to pass out or throw up. Graciano put the glass down on the table. He rolls up the sleeves of his jacket. A silver watch hugged his muscular wrist. "It was a treat drinking with you, Ms. Green," he said and looked at me. "Time for me to go. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow at the same hour."

I wished we could have the rest of the hunts in the Dusk pack. I was eagerly waiting for the camps in the Dawn pack to end as soon as possible. Everyone said the Dawn pack had the best sunsets, contrary to its name. And I wanted to see it, but then again the Christian Akus just didn’t want me to be happy, so the curfew time for female campers became right before the sunset.

I smiled, grabbed her hand, and placed a kiss on it. “Why would I need to? I have you to defend me, don’t I?” Jasmine froze for a moment, staring at me blankly. After a while, just as I began to think I had ruined everything with my reckless confession, a feather-light kiss brushed my cheek. Jasmine turned away and spoke in a soft voice, “Then I guess I’ll just have to keep an eye on you from now on.” The sunlight bathed her in a golden glow, etching her into my memory as the most beautiful sight I had ever seen.

Rain pelted down in sheets, blinding me as it streamed over my face. Damn it. Was I going to freeze to death out here before Angelo arrived? I lay sprawled in the mud, gasping for air. I fumbled in my pocket until my fingers closed around the phone. The screen lit up, showing it was midnight. Headlights cut through the curtain of rain. A black armored car stopped in front of me. The door opened, and a pair of polished leather shoes stepped into the waterlogged earth. A tall figure slowly stepped toward me beneath the shelter of a black umbrella. I could only make out his jawline and a pair of tightly pressed lips.

“At first, but opposites don’t behave the way they do.” I glance at Poppy. “Everything I’ve seen tells me they aren’t pulling away from each other… they’re connected.” No one speaks. “Like sunrise and sunset. They’re different. But they’re both part of the same day.” Ryder nods and Callen hums in agreement. “Paige isn’t light, she’s dawn.” I look directly at Poppy. “And I think you’re dusk.” “Dusk?” she frowns. “Yes, not darkness,” I say quickly. “Darkness feels empty, and that’s never been you.”

It wasn’t very effective as they could dodge them very easily but still, it was what we had. “Let’s finish up. They leave at first light.” Ashe said the hunt began at Dawn, but they weren’t leaving until tomorrow. I assumed it was a figure of speech but after scenting the three sisters on Rhett I knew she had played her part. They had played their part… to well.

A kind of moment where the midnight, and early rise of morning meets in a certain knock of light in the blues of darkness, and right now, the moment was just it; the blend of dark blue, deepening it with the blooming light to rise, as downside was the awakened Seoul in city-lights; a faint shore of wavering Han river, the bridge of it was still gleaming in the lights of brightness. The late midnight rain had left the chilling breeze of the gone winters, blooming spring, and the freshness of the soil.
