Someone even pulled out their phone under the pretense of checking the time, but their camera lens lingered a little too long on Ajax’s profile.
A group of children by the gate, still waiting for their turn to be led in, took notice too.
“Whoa…” one little girl gasped, tugging on her friend’s sleeve. “Is that your dad, Dylan?”
Dylan, dressed in his tiny blue backpack and puffy jacket, blinked up at the girl.
“That’s my mom and dad,” he said simply, his voice full of quiet pride.
“They look like movie stars,” the girl whispered, eyes wide. Another boy beside her nodded vigorously.
