The Return to the Sun The Earth re-emerged in the familiar, cold vacuum of the Milky Way. Ahead of them was a yellow dwarf star—the Sun. It was dim, distant, and beautiful. But as the Earth settled back into its original orbit, the moon was no longer a featureless sphere. It was covered in the glowing, amber "Purifier" technology they had left behind. The solar system wasn't as they had left it; it was a Blank Slate. Leo stood on the observation deck as the first real sunrise in months broke over the Andes. It wasn't the gold of the Architects or the silver of the Overseers. It was a harsh, bright, yellow light that made him squint.
