Her tone was softer now, gentle almost, because I hadn’t said a word about Jules since I came home.
“She left, Mom, end of story,” I said and looked away from her.
She sighed. “You imprinted, Alex, that means something.”
“She saw me get shot and she couldn’t handle it. She left without a word and I haven’t heard from her,” I said and I could see the sadness in Thalia’s eyes.
“It’s her loss because you’re fantastic,” she said and I smiled.
Thalia stood up and walked over to her purse where she took an envelope out. She took a deep breath before she turned to look at me and held the envelope out to me. “This letter came for you.”
