Elle James Books Novels & Stories

Tall, sharp, clothed in a fitted grey tunic and black pants, Jasper always looked half bored, half lethal. His blonde hair was swept back, his dark brown eyes glinting with knowledge he never spoke of freely. He held a leather bound book against his chest. Her book. Elara's book. Marek didn't ask how Jasper knew. Jasper always knew. "She called you last night." "I heard." "Twice. Then she tried to erase you again." Marek's jaw ticked. Jasper smirked. "And then she came again." Came. But only in a way humans could.

“Just do what I say, okay? And about your family. I will deal with them. Perhaps you want to say something for them, and I will deliver it.” I scoffed. “No. Not necessary.” Elias looked at her coldly, picked up his glass, and drank. “But…” “Hmm?” I bit my lower lip. “I left something valuable to me in that house….” I sighed, I know I am asking too much, but it’s only him whom I can trust, “can you please get it for me? I promise it’s my last favor. You’ve done too much—” “What is it?” I gulped to ease my shyness and calm myself. “My father gave me a book, and it’s all about mystical creatures, wolves, vampires—hey, are you alright?”

I am trying not to return to the apartment and find them together. “Do we know how Mathius’s meeting went yesterday?” Emmy asks. “From what Dylan told me, it went well. I guess the woman, Nayleen, that he met with was incredibly helpful.” Sapphire answers. So that is the woman's name. Damn, even her name is beautiful as she is. Once again, the apartment is dark, or that is what I thought. Someone left the dimmer light on, making the living room look like something out of a romance novel that Sapphire reads. She is into those fantasy/paranormal romance stories. Has Dylan caught her reading them? Giant hands grab my hips as I touch the switch to turn it off. I scream as I am pulled ba

Mom supported me, not because she understood, but because she loved me and wanted me to be happy. I stood up and walked around the library, feeling a little restless. They had all of the classics, and some of them looked as though they were expensive copies. Other authors that I regularly read, such as James Patterson and Dean Koontz were on the shelves. They even had some of my female favorites, such as Lisa Jackson, Lisa Gardner and Heather Graham Pozzessere. Then I wondered down to another section where I found some more provocative books. They had a lot. “You are not stupid people and you know why I initially came to the island. Do you think that I am some kind of loose woman?”

The books they had on the subject seemed sadly outdated and she silently wondered if this exercise would bear results. Eli, being the Head Librarian, was able to sniff out what they needed fast, and she was sure the seven books on the desk were about all he could find. Most of them dealt with hauntings and spirit possessions, but none it seemed, could tell her how to kill an evil spirit. Not just banish it, but kill it and send it hurtling to hell, where it belonged.

If you are caught, you will be filed under ‘Unclaimed Assets. "Where is she?" Kaelen roared, drawing his sword as the first of the Liquidators, masses of black ink and sharpened quills, began to ooze from the shelves. "Downstairs," my mother said, her form beginning to fade into the starlight. "In the Basement of Regrets. But be warned, Elara... Lyra isn't the girl you remember. She’s been doing the Archivist’s books for a long time." We ran. We dove through a trapdoor made of shadow, falling through a sea of drifting memories. We landed in a room filled with jars, but these jars weren't filled with mist. They were filled with blood.

Everything felt frozen in time, like a snapshot of a life that had never truly belonged to her. But something about being in the room brought a sense of clarity, a feeling that she was on the verge of discovering something important. Elara’s eyes drifted toward the bookshelf, a collection of novels and journals that had once been her only refuge from the cruelty of her fake sister and the indifference of her parents. She stepped closer, her fingers trailing over the spines of the books as she searched for something—anything—that might give her the answers she so desperately needed. She pulled a few books off the shelf, flipping through the pages absentmindedly, but found nothing of interest.

he cautioned. Blaze's growl deepened. "We won't let that happen." Storm leaned in, eyes blazing. "Tell us more." Elijah's gaze swept the room. "Emma's secrets are hidden in her journals. I brought them with me as per her mother's request." He produced a worn leather-bound book with magical patterns engraved on its cover.

“The One Who Shall Bridge Blood and Flame… the Born Star, Tethered Between…” The rest dissolved into ink smudges. “What the hell…” Elias whispered, flipping through pages. Images flickered past—sketched diagrams of creatures with wings, ancient battles, and one illustration that looked eerily like him. His pulse quickened. He slammed the book shut and shoved it back. But it was gone. The space on the shelf was now empty. He stepped back, breath quickening. “Nope. Nope, nope…” “Elias?” Lucian called lazily from the main room. “You good?”

Then turned away without another word, leaving her trembling in the marble silence. And in that first hour of her new life, Elara Vale realized something far more dangerous than fear: She wasn’t afraid of Damien Kael. She was curious. And curiosity… was how sins began.
