A slow, heavy beat passes before she speaks again. "Two days ago, he was killed." A strange feeling creeps up my spine. "By who?" Her gaze lifts to mine, raw with pain. "A Vampire. Serena yelps as she accidentally steps on my foot. "Sorry," she murmurs. "O-okay," Elizabeth says, fumbling around in the dark. "Where’s the door? I have the keys." I grab her arm and guide her toward it. The metallic sound of keys scraping against the lock fills the silence as she feels for the keyholes. She makes quick work of the padlock, but the second lock takes a little more effort without any light. Eventually, it clicks open. She shoves the door forward, and moments later, a dim yellow glow floods the space as a light flickers on.
