She finally came out of her bedroom looking fresh out of the shower. Her mom felt a heavy burden just lifted off her shoulder. Hazel was feeling better. There was still deep sadness on her face but she forced a smile and said 'Hi' and gave her a long hug. The day was getting dark and Claire's relief was short-lived because Hazel was on her way outside to meet the boy in a designer hoodie in his white Lamborghini who looked like he hadn't had a good sleep in days.

Unbearable heat sweeps up on my back but I tolerate it. The cupboard shakes and I hear Zion grunt. Another moment, the cupboard slides back with such speed that it slams harshly against the nightstand. “Elysia!” I hear Zion but my knees have already given up. I land on my knees, holding my baby tightly as it becomes hard to breathe. Zion's worry-filled voice is distorted as I slip away, and everything turns black.

I paused, hesitant to speak. I didn't want to discuss my problems, not when it seemed like he had something positive to share. I offered a faint smile, weighing my response carefully.

The fog abruptly retracted back into my body with a whoosh. "Here we are."

Hailstorm’s POV Once I’ve recovered from my overdramatic episode, we were off – just grabbing three jackets and sneakers from the bags. Along the way, Lacy had ripped off some branches from the trees and well, they were our only defence. Please, goodness gracious – let us just make it to the damn road or to the cabin. Kira grabbed my hand, pulling me forward.
