"Sera? Who is Sera?" The silence that followed was suffocating. I stood there, waiting. Waiting for Damon to explain. To tell Elena that I was his mate. His partner. The woman he had promised to love and protect. "Sera is my girlfriend," he said finally. His voice was flat. Casual. Like he was introducing a distant acquaintance. Something inside me snapped. She tried to touch Emily, whose face was on the ground, but Emily, still under the influence of the serum, thought it was an enemy. She pulled the trigger and shot Ashley, who was smart enough to dodge it. Ashely took her by the arm and pinned her down.

“She is here to take her place on the throne, and yet you dared to throw her into that filthy, predatory tavern. For that insult, Serena, you deserve a brutal death.” Serena immediately lost all her composure. She began frantically banging her forehead against the hard floor, sobbing and begging for her life to be spared. I watched her emotionlessly. My wolf, Ice, paced in my chest, wanting to rip her throat out right now, but I held him back. I wanted to destroy her position and torment her first. A quick death was too easy for a spy sent by the elders. Emily was the perfect tool to tear Serena’s power away.

Eliza shuffles closer to her so she can reach. “Do I get details yet?” Serena asks, not looking at her and turning on the scanner and typing on the keyboard to set it up. Eliza rolls her eyes, “Fine, I’ll shut up about it for now. But one day, you’ll tell me. I know you want to, really. You want to brag about it; I know you too well, Bitch.” Kai takes a deep breath, unhappy about his woman being insulted. “Sis, you know that you’re in the room with my two very dangerous vampire mates, and you’re calling me a bitch.” Serena grins,

He shrugged his shoulders again, telling me there was nothing to tell about Ethan and Serena. “Your husband is an open book, Harper, and Serena is just an old friend,” he shrugged, smiling warmly to put my mind at ease. I smiled back at him; I could tell my tenacity was making him uneasy, and I could see him considering his words carefully. I decided to bluff and see what he would say. “That’s a lie, Brad, and you know it. Serena is not Ethan’s friend. Rather, she is Emma’s sister. Emma is Ethan’s friend and not Serena,” I told him, making his eyes go wide in surprise.

Emi chuckled. "What do you want from me? Were you sent to do this? Huh!" Serena yelled, getting pissed. Emi suddenly jumped down from the bed. She ran towards her to get her to the bed, but Serena pushed her off with all her strength. Emi flew back and hit her head on the wall, then passed out. When the anger inside Serena went down, she went closer to Emi to notice that she wasn't moving. -What the hell? Is she dead? Serena asked herself fearfully.

Without a word, she turned on her heel and walked right back out of the shop, the door chiming again as it closed behind her. “Well,” Lyra said after a moment of stunned silence. “That was weird.” “Super weird,” Sera agreed, then started laughing. “Did you see her face? She looked like she had seen a ghost.” “More like she remembered an important appointment somewhere else,” I said, though I was curious about Emily’s sudden retreat. The last time I saw her, she had been nothing but confrontational and rude. “Who cares?” Sera waved her hands dismissively. “This means less drama for us. Now we can focus on making you look absolutely stunning without any negative energy around.”

The woman looked at Axl with a seductive bite on her lower lip. “Ahh, Serena, you came.” Axl beamed at her. “Baby.” Serena cooed and neared him. Emily noticed Axl moving his chair slightly farther away from the table and Serena freely sat on his lap with her arm draped over Axl’s shoulder. She smiled at Emily, a smile of a champion that caused Emily to shiver visibly in fear. “Hi, Emily.” “Hello…” Emily greeted back, stunned by her beauty. Serena has red waves that reached her waist, her lips appeared rosy pink and she looked perfect.
