A shadowy figure rose from the earth a darker, hollow version of myself and charged at me with terrifying speed. I dodged her strikes with all my strength, but her movements were swift and deadly. One hit landed hard against my abdomen, and I was sent flying several meters across the battlefield. I coughed up blood, spitting it onto the ground as I looked up. My shadow twin stood tall, shimmering with moonlight. Though it mirrored me, its eyes were empty and lifeless. “Let’s kick this bitch’s face in, Emily,” Amelia snarled, and a surge of power erupted within me.

She felt the pendant warm against her chest, and the echoes of the Crown’s magic pulsed faintly beneath her fingertips. She closed her eyes, letting the shadows touch her mind. The whispers were soft now, indistinct, reminders of what had been. But she no longer trembled. Instead, she embraced the memory, the warning, the shadow, knowing that it had made her stronger. Gray’s holding a long thick metal link chain in his hands, conversing with the two. Iselyn and I stop a few feet away, just close enough to alert them to our presence and hear the conversation.

Matthias faded and entered their room to find Emma fading fast as a shadow sat upon her with a pillow held upon her head, suffocating her. He knew her heartrate was falling fast, and she was not long for this world. Charging at the shadow, he passed right through and fell upon the floor next to Emma. He was shocked at the power of the shadow and yet he couldn't attack it via normal means, he managed to pull the pillow away from her face and heard her breathing hitch, as she managed to take in the air to sustain her lungs.

Chandler's legs gave way, and he sank to the floor.
